Try out this demo to the new entry into the hit RTS franchise Warhammer 40K Dawn of War! The expansion pack will include two new races, the Dark Eldar and the Sisters of Battle, as well as a series first, aerial vehicles and battles!
"Dawn of War" is the actual game name. "Soulstorm" is the expansion pack title.
So that's a grand total of 9 races to play as online. PM me if you want any other information - I can give you all the features from the back of box and flap...
The best RTS out there is about to get even better. Sisters of Battle!! Woot!
Only downside is they pushed the development to another group, I'm guess because Relic is already working on DoW2.
If any of you don't know what we're talking about, do yourself a favor. Go to your nearest gamestore, pick up Dawn of War+Winter Assault+Dark Crusade, you won't regret it.
Edit: Oh crap, I'm hearing rumors now that there's a slight possibility there may be a new ground unit for each faction, Wraithguard being one of them...awesome!
P.S. Yes, I'm a total nerd.

Correct - Iron Lore is developing this expansion pack, but Relic is still overseeing the project.

There is a new unit for each, but they're mostly the aerial vehicles PPharoah posted about (i.e. Land Speeder Tempest, Hell Talon, Nightwing, etc...). It looks like the Necron's extra unit is the only one that's not a vehicle - the Necron Lord can now become the other C'tan god: The Deceiver.
I've got DoW, but haven't gotten any of the expansions. Maybe I should go get them.
It is a completely different game with them.
I actually bought the stand-alone DoW when it first came out. I thought, "Eh, not bad," but really didn't consider it a keeper at the time. I actually sold it back to Gamestop.
Then one day I picked up the gold edition with DoW and Winter Assault and also Dark Crusade at the same time. WOW! I seriously did not give this game even half the attention it deserved the first time around. The control point system of resources is so much better than sending peasants to mine ****, and the customizable squads, leader units and sheer diversity of the races just propels this game above every other.
About the only RTS I can say is comparable right now is also a Relic child, Company of Heroes. Another great game, I think, but lacking the distinct flavor and fun element that the 40K universe brings.
Everything I'm reading about SoulStorm is saying it's awesome, save some pathfinding issues with the flying units.
Sisters of Battle are my favorite faction from the lore. They are the Inquisitors and possess some pretty scary stuff. Dark Eldar should be a bitch in the hands of a seasoned veteran (and can consume enemy souls...lol). Mobile glass cannons to the extreme.
Give the expansions a go FBJ, maybe we can get a game together with a few of us.
I'm pretty damn excited about this expansion. Little disappointing that the DoW is team isn't making it, but if they are working on DoW2, I'd say that can be forgiven. I'm also a little leery about flying units, but I think they could work well. I'm hoping that this makes the jump to multiple worlds in the Dark Crusade campaign and that's not being saved for DoW2. I have played the hell out of DoW, WA, and DC so far and expect nothing less with Soulstorm. Downloading the demo now.

Looks like 4 worlds in the campaign, from what I've dug up.
Flying units are apparently hoverers, much like the vehicles already in the game. It remains to be seen if there will be collision between flyers and vehicles. Unfortunately, the engine does not allow a true flyer (i.e. C&C Generals, Total Annihlation). I have faith though, as Drum4Pigs stated, Relic is overseeing the whole thing, so the level of quality shouldn't be a concern.
Picked Soulstorm up the other day and am having an absolute blast with it. Both the Sisters of Battle and the Dark Eldar are distinctive in their playstyle and flair, and I think the developer did a pretty solid job implementing them. There's some pissing and moaning amongst the DoW faithful over some bugs and fixes that will need to be patched, but I heartily recommend adding this expansion to your collection if you're a Dawn of War fan.
Flame-throwing chicks in Powered Battle Armor 4tehwin.
Thanks Iron how many maps did you get with it? Only really need to know how many of the Large maps come with it.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'll try to do a count and post later. There are at least 5-6 new 6-player maps, probably more, and I'm certain they've added a bunch of new 8 players. I'll get back to you on it.
I was thinking of getting it, was looking forward to the meta map game where you try and take over planets, but then heard it's only part of the Space Marine campaign. Sad about that.
