Stupid NHL 08 on an Xbox question

If I hook it up to the net, will it download updated rosters?

Not very accurate ones (Cloutier, McCauley still on Kings, for example) Supposedly a full roster update is expected within the next few days.

I'm not sure, though, if it will require the Xbox live Gold membership, or if it will be available without a paid subscription.

NHL07 never got the rosters completely right all season long so I don't expect NHL08 to do much better. You will need that membership however. Otherwise you'll be doing lots and lots of trading to even get the rosters close to what they currently are.

the new update is pretty accurate. has Labarbara and Aubin as the goalies. Cloutier is on the ahl roster. As is Boyle who has an amazing shot from the point.

and the blackhawks are fun after the roster update.

How about lining up a check, I swear it's ****ing impossible to check someone in the game without it winding up as slashing, tripping or hooking for some reason.

I already started the season mode. I'm like 62 games into it. Downloaded the Roster Updates, but it didn't update to my Dynasty Mode roster. In a way... that's good, I don't know if it'll mess up my player's stats or not.

But I noticed in the Online rating. The Kings went from 81 (before update) to 84

Updated rosters can only be applied before the Dynasty starts.

Try turning down the penalties setting a notch, I get the same problems but not nearly as frequent now.
