About This Page: This is a discussion on Gamer Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. 5 days and counting until this releases on PC, 360, and PS3.
Here's the website for the game if you are not familiar with it or want to get more
Anyone planning on getting this? If so, for which system? I haven't seen if we can play on our PC, and play with people on consoles (like Shadowrun did) on the same servers or if they will be different.
Although I was never into the 1st incarnation I loved the Clancy book, and this game promises COOP in the campaign , and the ability to take your awards from single player, to multi-player and back again. The weapons look promising as well, a couple of my favorites in there.

Can somebody catch me up? What's the game play style like? I recently got into video games (rather late, I know), and I enjoyed CoD4 on the 360 immensely.
I then tried Unreal Tournament 3 for the PS3, and I couldn't even play for more than an hour in the single-player mode before I got dizzy and bored. It was too frenetically-paced, had these ridiculously, space-aged weapons, and the few times I tried multiplayer, it was kind of laggy.
Is the Rainbow Six series run and gun, or more patient and crouchy? Do they have real-life weapons? Much thanks in advance!

Rainbow 6 is very similar to COD4 and it does have real life weapons. I would say it's like COD4 but focused on urban combat. You do a lot of anti-terrorist stuff in hotels. I really enjoyed the first game and the multi-player was also very fun. I'll be getting it for the 360.

One thing for the uninitiated, the major difference between COD and Rainbow Six: Vegas is that Vegas revolves around a third person cover system. It works well, and if you don't mind zooming out of the first person it is pretty cool, but it is a major tactic online. Basically you hide behind a wall, watch some dude running around without having to expose yourself, then you jump out and tag him.
So far, the voice commands work ok, campaign is medium length, there are some nice unlocks and it's nice going from single to COOP and MP and back again with your same persona.
The controls are uneditable except for 3 presets, on the 360 version it seems, and you find yourself tossing grenades at the ODDEST moments, if that happens to be an incendiary grenade in a confined space say goodbye to 100xps, the game views this as suicide. There is no prone command and I have had friends comment on why this was not included for snipers.
Definitely fun to be had, in the coop arena it's really nice to be able to hop into your friend's campaign help them out for a mission or two then jump into your campaign and they can return the favor!
I think there are around 12 maps, with a couple unlockables
, from pre-order and such. Definitely a rental if you like this type of game.
