G4 - The Feed - 'MGS 4' Gets Release Date?

I saw this on X-Play. Damn good deal. They are basically giving MGS4 for free to anyone buying a new PS3 at regular price. This leads me to believe that a $50 price drop is in the PS3's very near future.
It would be kind of cool if they came out with a special edition PS3 for this bundle. Make it like a cool color or just camo that sucker out.

yeah that would be cool, but they're also trying to appeal to the home theater folk. i would guess that most of the guys on the avsforum would bitch and complain about a camo ps3 even if there was another option available. i think that made sense...

quick question...and this can be answered by any PS3 owner. When playing DIVX files on your PS3 do you have to be connected to the internet to do so?
On a 360 when you try to play one it will download the codec to play the file but if you disconnect the ethernet or move the box to another tv away from your connection that file will no longer play. I researched and sure enough, you have to be connected to Xbox Live for the 360 to play DIVX files.
If the PS3 doesn't have to be networked I'll slap a 320gb hard drive in there and store all my divx files there.

You DO NOT need to be connected to teh interwebz to play DivX files from the PS3. Your porn collection will play just fine....

In Japan, the MGS4 bundle does include a limited edition steel colored PS3 and DualShock 3, but it doesn't sound like this edition is coming here to the States though.
not only will it be $500 but whenever I get around to getting mine I'm going to upgrade the hard drive right off the bat so it'll end up in the $700 range for me.
The PS2 has been going strong for 7 1/2 years now. If the PS3 can equal that and it looks to me like it will be able to then I don't really consider it a bad investment. The PS3 just has so many capabilities. When they finally start releasing quality games the system will be a force.
What I want to play...
Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, God of War. These games in PS3 will be pretty effing cool.
