Rookies CANNOT be put in the game, legally a player must play ONE NHL game before his likeness is used, it's the same every year.

Make sure you get a game that has roster updates, and your rookies will be included once the regular season starts in a roster update.

thanks. as long as they throw them in there on the updated rosters I'm down. fighting looks way better than '08

You got me. They were supposed to be playing NHL 94 but what was shown on the screen was NHLPA 93. Kinda like in Mallrats where you hear NHL 94 sound effects but what you see is NHL All-Star Hockey for Sega Saturn.

On a sidenote, I hope that they have improved the soundtrack...big time.

I'm currently listening to the NHL 2002 soundtrack...it's amazing how awesome it was/is...gets worse and worse every year after that IMO.

Same here, actually. In '08, I adjust the sliders to get an "on-ice" sound. Commentary completely off, sound effects way up, arena music real low, goal horn loud... crowd relatively low.

Since we can now customize the in-game music, though, I'll probably geek it out and try to get all the same music from Kings games into '09

I did that in 2k6 (I think) and it was awesome until the game started regularly crashing.
