I hate that the fight and hook button are the same.
Team was down 3-0 at with 7 minutes to go in the 2nd. My team was playing like dog crap and getting badly outplayed. I figured that it was time to start a fight and wake my team up. Instead of a fight, I took a hooking penalty in which resulted in my team giving up a PP goal.
Well, seems that the coach benched me the entire rest of the game for that. Not one shift for the rest of the 2nd or the entire 3rd period. The critique was \\"you can't take bad penalties\\" for the rest of the game. It wouldn't even let me call for a line change with X, just stuck watching the team end up losing 6-1. stupid configuration.
When I try to hook, i start a fight, whenever i try to fight, i get a hooking penalty. what is the secret?
So, I am a defensive D, played half as many games as most of the guys on the NHL roster. I am 2nd in goals and points on the team and lead in PIMs. Half of the team is like +25 or greater (lines 1 and 2 and top d pairing). The other half is like -10 or worse (lines 3 and 4 and bottom d pairing). 2nd d pairing is close to even on +/-. is this the same with most everyone else?
Yikes... how often do you usually press X for a shift? I can't imagine pressing the X button and not having it work because you're in the doghouse.

tried it several times - was getting really impatient towards the end. It was pretty much like i was in the penalty box for the rest of the game, except the view was from the bench.
I've managed to work my way up to the King's first defensive pairing as an scoring defenseman. My +/- is +27.
Of course, that's still on Rookie mode. I'm just starting to really get the hang of positioning, and my poke-checking abilities are getting better. I need to learn how to cover my assignments a little better (it's more of a getting used to the game physics thing than anything else, I think), and I'm trying to learn how to better aim a slapshot from the point.
The game is freakin' awesome, though. Can't wait for a roster update!

OK. I cry FOUL! I am in my second season and we just played Ottawa. How in the world can they have a roster under the cap with: Daniel Alfredsson, Nick Boynton, Brian Campbell, Nick Foligno, Dany Heatley, Jarome Iginla, Andrej Mesznaros, SCOTT NEIDERMEYER, TEEMU SELANNE, and Jason Spezza?? Its a friggin ALL STAR team!!

EA Sports always has to screw up somewhere. =\ I think they do it on purpose, so we have reason to buy NHL 2010.
I'm first line center for kings. Two trades just happened.
LaBarbera traded to predators for Fiddler. Then Armstrong traded to NY Rangers for Zaba.
I don't know about that. Oh, when I first was brought up by the Kings. We had and still have Brian Campbell. Some trades I can see and others are just totally insane.
I'm still stuck in Manchester, 18 games....averaging a point a game too... :-p
Same here... about 20 in. I quickly got promoted to the first line, and kept up my PPG scoring, but then the coach demoted me back down to the 2nd line citing my Stats being an issue...
I'm back up to the first line and waiting for a call-up now.
I wish before a game you could look at the lines for the other team, not just only yours. There's so many significant roster changes that the CPU makes it's hard to know who you're even playing against.
