Picked up my copy today. Unfortunately my wireless router crapped the bed and now I'm waiting for my new cable to come in, so I won't be online until that happens.
Only one Be a Pro game played under my belt but I'm loving every second of it.
I am a defensive defenseman (to get ready for TEAM LGK) and it was never so fun to just record an assist. I recorded 3 assists. Unfortunately, I got a -1 but it doesn't matter. I lost 8-6 though, I actually got in a fight trying to hook someone on defense when we were up 6-5. The stupid part of the fight was the 2 punch knockout.. But when I was in the box, the computer scored 3 straight goals. So it was a tough loss to take.
All good so far.

I get what you're saying. Funny thing is, I ordered my copy Monday night from Gamestop for in-store pickup.
So, when they played that "these copies are only for pre-orders", I said "I did. Here's my paperwork." And I left with my copy.

Something to keep in mind if you're wanting to be Sean Avery...
Been reading that people are having issues with the line changes for the opposition not showing up on the screen. Kind of hard to match lines that way.
Just picked it up at BB in Thousand Oaks. They said it was the last one so I wouldn't recommend going there if you want it. Wont be able to play it till late tonight. Sounds like it's great though.
How are penalties? Last year there weren't enough called.
I got a Cross Checking penalty which was a pleasant surprise. (The seem to have taken it out in 08.)
The computer as gotten the Delay of Game penalty 2-3 times, mostly when they were already a man down. Which is quite interesting, but it's a great way to finally get some 5 on 3 action.
One or two tripping calls here, nothing nearly as bad as NHL 08. The Y button doesn't slash them anymore (until after play I think...) so you can't really get slashing penalties like crazy.
