About This Page: This is a discussion on Gamer Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Ok. This year I was unable to make my draft until the 7th round. The result was a piss poor team. Too early to tell what areas i'm strongest in.

Ok, he wants Joe Sakic and thats all he's after. My other Centers are Anze Kopitar, Jaroslav Hlinka, and Eric Staal. You only start 2 C's but that's irrelevant since you can rotate every day a new set of guys.
Here's his roster. Goalies excluded because they are not for trade and frankly I dont like the ones he has.
C Michael Nylander
C Chris Drury
LW Evgeni Malkin
LW Chris Kunitz
RW Marek Svatos
RW Daniel Cleary
D Philippe Boucher
D Kimmo Timonen
D Michal Rozsival
D Robyn Regehr
LW Donald Brashear
RW Chris Clark
RW Dustin Penner
C Viktor Kozlov
He wants Sakic like I said and initially offered Kozlov, Kunitz and Nylander for Sakic. Tempting as Kunitz should put up some points. But I don't care for the other 2 players. Nylander's not a bad pick but its the wrong Kozlov. Thoughts?
What would you take out of that list for Sakic? sh

Is it a keeper league, or simply just this season?
If it's not a keeper league, I would see no reason to trade Sakic for any of those guys.

Not a keeper league, but the reason I'm looking to make a trade is because my team is getting destroyed. I figured if I can get a couple of quality guys for Sakic, I might be able to get a little stronger in a couple of categories and start edging out some wins or better yet, one of the guys I acquire decides to have a break out year. I'm not sure I want to ride Sakic the entire year seeing how he's in his late 30's. Is he going to fatigue? His point total has got to dwindle at some point. He's hot right now. I'd prefer to sell hot rather than wait till midseason and get much less for him. I expect Kopitar to have a good season Assist wise and Staal should have a good season as well. Thats 2 solid centers, maybe just maybe I can strengthen my team at RW or LW (Right wing is very weak. The only good LW I have is Ovechkin, my other LW is Jussi Jokenin.

I would go for Malkin, but not expect him to make that deal. I would make the offer, and pray the unlikely hope he accepts, then move on to another team.

Honestly, that guy's team is crap. Why help him out?
Don't make any early-season deals because knee-jerk transactions are very risky. If he wants Sakic that bad, then he is probably an Avs fan...and that means he would jump on a deal at any time during the season to get his fave player.
Just keep Sakic in your pocket, it may payoff later on.

I have Sakic on my team. Don't trade him. He's got plenty of help around him now, especially if they ever decide to play him with Stastny or Brunette. The only reason one would trade Sakic is because in a keeper league, he is on a one year deal and will continue to only take one year deals until he decides to retire with the Avalanche.
Malkin would be the only one that might even come close to Sakic's totals.
