About This Page: This is a discussion on Gamer Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. I appologise if this has been posted before, has anybody played Eastside hockeymanager?
Its not very graphics based but is very involved and a great game if you like management
I love the game. My current franchise has over 200 saves with 8+ days worth of game play.
I'm in about season 2022. Kopitar is the new all-time Kings leader in goals, assists and points. Jack Johnson has 5 Norris Trophies and after the season he just put up he should be making room in his trophy case for number 6.
At this year's trade deadline I dealt for Sidney Crosby to help ensure my 2nd consecutive Stanley Cup.
Great game.

Anyone else buy into this story that they were forced to stop production due to piracy?
Yes. Nobody was buying the game, and I can see NHL trademark rights being expensive. While it was a good game, it wasn't marketed at all and was very small production.
I would not doubt that this project lost money for the company.

Kings Record with KFC in Attendance: (0-2)
Update: Sid the 35 year old Kid couldn't get the Kings back into the Stanley Cup Finals. The Kings lost in Game 7 of the WCF to the Chicago Blackhawks.
I dealt Sid the following offseason for cap relief. Not one of my finer moments in my EHM GM career.

My first season just finished and I managed to get to conference finals, managed to take Columbus past Red Wings in the first round. I lost in 5 but quite happy considering my top two defensive pairings were Maclaren and Berard and Methtot and Kloucek. I managed to trade some picks to get some good offense and Nabokov in goal though.

Its a shame though. They have a soccer management game that is out of this world. Eastside was behind the soccer game in development, but had they kept it going I reckon in around two years Eastside would have been an outstanding product.

For me, I am ALWAYS better off when I stick with our Kings, I don't know why, but it doesn't matter WHO I bring in, I always play my best with our boys out there.
SO I kinda quit trying to make the Crosby and Ovechkin deals long ago.
I play the cr@p out of this game. It's not very action packed like a console game, but great for being a GM. I've played mainly in the ECHL but have a couple seasons with the Kings. The first thing I did was get a goalie. Believe it or not I traded Clouts for Nittamaki(sp). Got some cap space, plus (in the game) he's a much better goalie. Made the team instantly competitive.

Marketing was really poor.
The hockey manager has been using a 2-3 years old football manager engine and I don't see how that could have changed. I was in Sports Interactive building this spring and the difference was obvious. There were about 20-25 people working on Football Manager game, while there has never been more than 3 people on the EHM project. Make that 3.5, one of the FM guys was helping them with the database implementation.
The game was not making profit, so that's why they stopped with the development. But I agree that marketing has been poor.
