I brought a 2-year plan warranty plan with Best Buy for my Xbox 360 back in September 2007.
It died a few weeks ago and I had to mail it in, because apparently the bar code on the receipt didn't match the console itself. Even though the bar code matched the 360 box. But whatever, so they made me mail it in... and I finally got my store credit + tax back.
It came out to $378.68. So I went in to get a new system again, and it turns out I had to spend another 60 bucks to buy the 2 year warranty because they terminate it after you use it.
Isn't that retarded? =\ I guess that's how they make their money too... bleh. In this situation though, it's not a Best Buy thing... but a Microsoft thing with their crappy Xbox360s. Still, I thought it was convenient. Guess not, after having to shell out another 60 bucks on this unreliable yet fun system.

Well, if you just got a refund then I would say that is as it should be. You got your money back and then bought an entirely different unit with a new serial number. If they were just repairing your unit, then I would think the warranty would carry on for the duration o the contract. And wasabi is right, the 360 comes with it's own 3 year warranty now anyway.
This is standard for an extended warranty. It usually states something to the effect of "once these terms are met, the contract is deemed as fulfilled". My TV is starting to act up & I was looking at my warranty to get it fixed. I noticed the part about it being fulfilled after I use it, so I'm waiting till the last year to have it repaired or replaced.
Well, first off all if your buying an Xbox, you know your in for trouble, so good call on the extended warranty. Second, I've had to take several things into BB many many times and I haven't had this problem. I just had to take an Itouch in for a replacement, and what they did was replace it, then charged me like $2.77 for the use of the extended warranty to extend it another 2 years. I've even had to take my laptop in something like 4 or 5 times, and still no hassels. It help to have the platinum card for the reward zone, but customer service is still customer service. If your not pleased, go in and talk to a supervisor.
Yeah it may be a 360 issue with so many of them going RROD,I bought the new classic 160 Gb Ipod as soon as it came out with an extended warranty and returned 3 of them cuz it was a piece of crap,it would only sync to my computer the first time I plugged it in and never after that. All 3 did it and never had any problems with the warranty being fullfilled.

In your case it was probably covered by the included warranty (which, I believe, is 90 days on iPods), so Best Buy wasn't on the hook for it, but Apple would've been.
I'm really hoping they come out with an iPhone or iPod Touch with a huge hard drive, though. I have a third-generation iPod with the scroll wheel, 30 GB, which is almost completely full with just my music. It still works, even after five years, though the battery life isn't what it once was.
Ive had to exchange several 360's at Best Buy (4 i think) and only once did i have to renew the warranty. This may be due to the customer service reps I recieved, but either way, it only cost me the $60 once.
Then again, everytime Ive recieved a new 360 without having to renew, Ive had a female service rep... so maybe its due to my good looks that I havent had to pay again.

M$ had extended the included warranty to 1 year (for ALL issues) prior to you buying one back in September 2007, so, technically, you gave Best Buy $60 for something that was already under warranty.
Don't get me wrong, with a 360, I wouldn't buy one without an extended warranty.

Any Xbox 360 customer who experiences a general hardware failure indicated by three flashing red lights will now be covered by a three year warranty from date of purchase. All other existing Xbox 360 warranty policies remain in place.
