I know we have some tennis fans here. It's been a great effing tournament this year. My 3 favorite girls are out now - Hingis, Ivanovic, & Sharapova - but there is still great tennis being played on the women's side. If Venus keeps up her play, she's going to take it.
And on the men's side - holy shiznit! Did anybody see the Nadal/Ferrer match tonight?! Easily THE match of the tournament thus far. ...with a classic Roddick/Federer match-up tomorrow night.
C'MON!
P.S. - anybody catch the rack on Paszek? GAWD DAYUM! ...and she's only 16. Does that make me a bad person?

I've been watching it. That Ferrer/Nadal match last night was really good. Felt bad for Nadal, though. He showed a lot of heart by continuing to play through the obvious injuries he's nursing. However, you have to give Ferrer all kinds of credit, because he just wouldn't be denied. Last night's Nadal still would have beat a majority of the men's draw, but Ferrer just ran and ran and ran and still managed to wear down the injured Nadal.
I was also looking forward to seeing Novak Djokovic continue to improve his game. He already made some noise by beating both Nadal and Federer in Montreal. Pretty soon, he'll be consistently in at least the semi-finals. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he'll make it much farther in this tournament because he looked like he was out of gas in his match yesterday against Monaco.
Not a fan of Henin, so I'll be rooting for Venus tonight. And Federer/Roddick should be interesting tonight. I'm wondering when Roddick will implode and give Federer another easy win.

By looking at her father I think he would have you killed on the spot
I did watch the Nadal/Ferrer match last night - damn great tennis. I'm also gettin' tired of Federer, sure he's a great player but c'mon, does he hafta wear that designer crap and play w/ his hair like a girl all the time?
Well, there you go... Roddick plays about as well as you can play through 2 sets - no breaks, serving about 70% at a 140mph average, and about 3/1 ratio of winners/errors - and still loses both sets in tie-breakers. DAM

Yea Roddick played extremely well. Federer is just too damn good.
What sucks for Roddick is even the intangibles kinda favored him. He was well rested while Federer was definitely the more tired of the two and he still lost.

I didn't think Djokovic played all that well tonight (or maybe I'm not giving Moya enough credit), but he got the win and that's what counts. I do think he'll have to bring more to the table against Ferrer. Maybe Ferrer won't be able to duplicate the effort he showed against Nadal, but he's going to hustle and make Djokovic work.
Great interview with Djokovic after the match. Got to see a couple of his impressions (Sharapova and Nadal) and his sense of humor. Nice to see the US Open making an effort to show the personalities of the players. Get a clue, NHL!!!
Oh... and about Federer/Roddick, that's about as close as Roddick is going to get to beating Federer. But I guess the sun shines on a dog's ass every once in a while, but Roddick will have to rely on his serve again and just hope that Federer has an off day. But Federer's A game vs Roddick's A game... Roddick doesn't stand a chance. At least I can give him some credit for not quitting this time.

That YouTube link I posted above has several of his impressions. Hilarious!

Roger plays a similar style to Stefan Edberg. both premiere serve and volley baseliners... and Edberg would've punished his ass

The first statement is asinine. The second statement is an oxy-moron.
Marat Safin, Llllllllllleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick? please!
oxy-moron?
by the way... i'm talking traditional serve and volley players. not that s*** Pete Sampras was doing, which essentially was like John McEnroe under control.
