U.S beats Mexico again!
CONCACAF Gold Cup Champions!
Remember the days when the U.S. would just get ****-kicked by Mexico?
Not anymore!
Quote:
The U.S. is 9-2-1 against Mexico since 2000, including 8-0-1 at home, although Sunday most of the crowd of 60,000 at Soldier Field was wearing green.
Having more oppo fans at home games is still a problem though. Especially since quite a few of those oppo fans display boorish behavior and act like cretins. But that is what makes this win so sweet!
Let the riots in Cudahy and Bell Gardens commence!

We need to play them more in Mexico. Playing the majority of their tough games in the US isn't helping to get them where they need to be come World Cup time. I would have preferred the "A" team played in Copa America instead of the Gold Cup for that reason.
I hate soccer but love watching nations battle in just about anything. Not only that I'm of Mexican descent and being the only US supporter in the family it's sweet sticking it to the family whenever USA gets over on dirty, cheap, diving candy arse Mexico.
How about that open net choke job by Beasley on the 2 on 0?!?!? How the hell do you miss that?!?!?!?
I was at the game in Foxboro vs El Salvador and there was one section of US fans, an entire stadium of El Salvador and Guatemanla fans (they played afterwards). It seems to me that the US can never play before a home crowd because whoever we play has more soccer fans in our country than we do. At least more who are into it enough to go to the game.
Pretty entertaining game vs Mexico. Howard was very good in goal and the US stepped it up with 2 players out in the finals with cards.
What I can't understand why FIFA puts up with the losing players and coaches almost attacking them after the game. Sure a couple of calls went against the Mexico team, but come on the center ref looked like he was going to get drilled by the Mexico coach or players.

That beasley fool was choking all tournament. He chipped more shots over the bar then I can count... which makes it about... 10?
Why? So we can get used to playing in front of a pro-Mexican crowd?
Every friendly (plus the Gold Cup) they've had this year was in the US. The crowd may have more fans for the opposition but that is not the same as playing in tough road stadiums. I wouldn't be surpised if they didn't win a single game in Copa America.
Their last friendly this year will be on the road against Sweden. They're leading their Euro 2008 group so that should be a good test.

Yes, but playing Mexico is not playing Argentina/Brasil. It doesn't matter where the US plays Mexico, unless we're talking altitude.

It was just an example. Mexico is the only real competition in the region. As KP's post pointed out we've played them here 9 of the last 12 times. If they start beating them in Mexico City or anywhere outside of the States on a regular basis then I'll start getting excited. Adding a few friendlies in central and south america even against the lesser countries would also be a good start.
