Dude, not making any excuses! He's getting a title shot man! haha
Do you just not like him or do you think there's some one else in the HW class that deserves it more? I mean seriously........Nog got a title shot after ONE FIGHT in the UFC!
My point was simply he's just as qualified as anyone else and being that he was a title holder in the past gives him an even bigger edge.
No one in the HW class deserves a shot at Nog right now. The only one who is close right now is Andre Arlovski. 3 straight wins over 3 legit opponents, but rumors are he will sign with Affliction soon. That will be a big blow for the UFC. What Dana should have done was make sure he kept Arlovski around.
There was no reason for the UFC to announce a title shot right now. They could have let the division sort itself out, and by August could have announced it.
Nog got a title shot after 1 fight because he's one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, Mir doesn't have that reputation. And he is not as qualfied as anybody else seeing as his last 2 wins were against a professional wrestler and a kickbox artist. His only fight against a legit HW he got destroyed.

While I firmly believe that Dana is right in that Tito's time has passed and he's not longer the amazing fighter he plays himself up to be, Dana really has to stop badmouting everybody. It's just so childish and unbecoming of the president of a company.
Speaking of Tito, this upcoming fight with Machida is really intriguing. Machida's style has been really stifling but he hasn't faced a powerful wrestler like Tito yet.
I think this is a good opportunity for Tito to up his stock and make a lot of money. He has repeatedly said that this will be his last fight in the UFC. I think Machida is a tough matchup for anybody, but if Tito can get on top of him and impose his will, it is possible that he mauls Machida.

I do agree no one really deserves a shot right now.....but they just can't let him sit around and rot. They had to give him somebody at least by August. So if they can market it and make some dough off it......why not give and ex-champ a chance. He's got a legit shot to win whether any of us like it or not. That being said......Nog will take him by the 3rd. And that's only good for the UFC because it helps solidify that title ya know.

Here, we definitely agree. I totally want Machida to win but it's going to be a serious tough one for him on the points you mentioned. But I thought it was going to be a tough one for him against Soku thinking Soku would be very hard to take down. NOT!
Main Event:: B.J. Penn (12-4-1) vs. Sean Sherk (32-2-1) (for the UFC Lightweight Title)
Main card (televised):: Wanderlei Silva (31-8-1) vs. Keith Jardine (13-3-1)
Goran Reljic (7-0) vs. Wilson Gouveia (10-4)
Tito Ortiz (15-5-1) vs. Lyoto Machida (12-0)
Thiago Silva (12-0) vs. Antonio Mendes (14-2)
Preliminary card:: Rousimar Palhares (7-1) vs. Ivan Salaverry (12-5)
Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (4-2) vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura (11-7)
Jeremy Stephens (13-2) vs. Terry Etim (10-1)
Jon Koppenhaver (5-1) vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida (9-2)
Dong-Hyun Kim (9-1-1) vs. Jason Tan (5-2)
Shane Carwin (8-0) vs. Christian Wellisch (8-3)
I won't make any real predictions, but I'm definitely pulling for BJ in the main fight. It will be tough for him if it goes past 2 rounds though.
And I'm really pulling for the Axe Murderer! In his fight with Chuck I said it would be ok if he lost as long as he put up a good fight. Done. This time though....he needs to win. He has to find a way to stay close to Jardine in order to nullify the reach difference.
And Tito.....well, see you in Strikeforce or where ever you go.
Houston Alexander vs. Eric Schaffer
Ed Merman vs. Alan Belcher

From worst to first? Quite possibly.
I know Fitch is a lot bigger than Hughes or Koscheck, but at the end of the day, he's still primarily a wrestler and I think GSP takes this one. UFC 87 was shaping up to be a decent card. GSP / Fitch, Florian / Huerta (should be a phenomenal pace to that one), and Coleman / Lesnar, but now that Coleman has withdrawn, I don't know who they'll get for Brock. C'mon Dana, re-sign AA, and put him against Brock!!!
