"In my opinion, it was inappropriate to make public statements regarding my character and my future and so on the way that he has, especially without having the courage and the respect to call me up and speak with me personally," Starnes told The Fight Network. "All of these comments come from a man that has never had a fight in his entire life who claims to be the ultimate authority on fighting and courage. I couldn't be happier than to be released from the most oppressive contract I've ever been under in my life."
hmmm... bitterness or words of a free man??

On another note:
Fitch apparently sent a text message to MMAmania.com last night saying: "I predict I beat GSP for the strap!" I just don't see how he's going to pull it off, and he really should be a little more respectful of GSP's skills. I understand trying to hype a fight (even though it isn't signed yet), but from what I've seen, Fitch has no advantage on GSP. I'm already looking forward to GSP shutting him up.
I think Fitch present an interesting matchup for GSP. One of the big advantages GSP has is his strength. He was bigger than Hughes(he had that sort of natural farm boy strength, but I wouldn't say he was a huge WW), Serra, and even Koscheck. He won't have that advantage against Fitch who is a massive WW, like GSP.
In addition, Fitch is good enough on his feet to keep GSP honest. Serra had heavy hands but very poor technical striking. Fitch has solid stand up, GSP's is better but he's not light years ahead of Fitch like he was Hughes, Kos, etc.
In the end I think GSP's athleticism will get him the win. Fitch is a strong wrestler with a big frame, but GSP is so explosive I think he can take anybody down. I think it will be a tough, competitive fight that will go to a decision.

Too bad about Chuck. First Shogun, now Chuck. That card is just cursed. I don't see how they can put together a legit main event now.
There's talk that James Irvin will possibly step in. The best thing Dana can do is throw Irvin in there and make it a Spike TV card. Sure he'll load it up with commercials but it turns from being a mediocre PPV card into a very good Spike card .
What the hell does he expect? He back-pedaled and ran around the freaking ring for 15 minutes. That was pathetic.

Franklin vs. Lutter: Franklin would be unbeatable in this division if not for Anderson Silva. He's not a "great" fighter, but he just wins. I thought he was done when that armbar came. He showed great poise and didn't panic when it happened and just did what he needed to do. I enjoy watching the guy because he's always game and has that passion for the sport (unlike some others...). I'm sure they'd love to see Franklin go up against Henderson or Wand, but that depends on a couple of factors so, that might not happen.
I don't think this will happen, because Franklin seems pretty loyal and Dana knows that Ace is still a draw, but I think Franklin should seriously consider leaving the UFC.
As long as Anderson Silva is still around, he'll never win the belt again, unless someone beats Silva and then Rich fights the new champion. And even then, when Silva tries to get his belt back, Ace will be ****ed.
I really like Rich Franklin, and I would love to see him sign with EliteXC, Adrenaline, basically anyone who would cross promote. 185 is one of the few divisions where a lot of the top talent is outside the UFC. I would love to see Rich fight Robbie Lawler, Cung Le, Frank Shamrock, etc. He would be a big draw for EliteXC as he is a known commodity.
I don't think any of this will happen, but I'm holding out hope.
Moving up to 205 doesn't seem feasible to me. Rich is a big MW but he would be an undersized LHW. 'Page, Forrest, even Chuck, those guys are huge. They would just be too strong for Rich. Certain matchups might make sense, but he would never be top dog at 205 so what's the point of moving up.
“Right now, I have a broken foot [that] I sustained with the first kick I threw in the fight,” Starnes said. “My leg is purple and black from my knee up, I have a black eye, a sprained jaw, and he’s questioning my desire to fight? If that isn’t enough to satisfy him and the crowd, I can show them the medical report. I can barely walk. [Quarry] totally destroyed my thigh with those kicks. I’m sure a lot of people would rather see me suffer a traumatic brain injury and be rendered unconscious. That’s too bad. If that’s what they want, they’re paying the wrong guy $10,000 to get his brain smashed in.”
So he broke his foot with the first kick he threw and then decided that the best course of action was to run around for an addition 14 minutes instead of throwing in the towel? He put himself in the position of suffering a "traumatic brain injury" by continuing to "fight" when he was injured and therefore unable to engage. This is a BS explanation. Kalib is just trying to save face.

Rumors are Irvin has taken the fight with Rashad and the UFC is looking to add Michael Bisping-Chris Leben to the card.
I would be be fine with that, I wouldn't buy it though, so let's hope they put it on Spike.
Somewhere I read that they intended to put it on Spike now. Can't remember where though. I feel bad for those who bought tickets though. Hopefully the UFC makes up for it by stacking the card with as many fights as possible.

I really enjoyed that season and thought there was some pretty good talent on the show, but in reality most of the guys have been duds.
Bisping has shown some promise but other than him everyone else has been a disappointment it seems. Grove gets KO'd everytime we see him now. Hermann goes to sleep. None of the LHWs have done anything.
Pretty bad season as far as getting talent, but I thought it was an entertaining one.

So did I. I also like the new format, where they fight to get into the house.
Matt Hamill is another guy from that season who has shown some promise.

Yea, I like it too, more opportunity for drama. If they didn't keep the "losers" in the house we don't get that awesome street fight between Marlon Sims and Noah Thomas.

Yup, good point. I just looked up the rest of the guys. Slim pickings as far as guys who can make an impact at the highest levels.
So, Matt Hughes saves the day. Good for the fans in the UK, as they once again have a big name to headline the card. Bad for us, because there's almost no way this gets put on Spike now. This fight is big for Alves, but really does nothing for Hughes, except possibly delay his fight with Serra more, should he get hurt. Then again, he already indicated on his blog that he thinks it's 6-8 months away from that fight, so you never know.
I think Hughes is a d***, but good for him for taking this fight on short notice and saving the day.
So Lutter gets the axe. Bit of an odd move by Dana simply because the MW division is lacking in contenders. First O'Brien, then Starnes, now Lutter. Who's next on the chopping block?

I'm actually happy to see this sort of thing. Only in MMA (and I guess boxing) can you come to do your job and not be in the best mindset physically and mentally, and still get work after. Neither of the guys that were cut seemed to have the desire to be the best. They were doing it because they could. I credit the UFC for making these moves.
