About This Page: This is a discussion on Other Sports within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. I haven't yet had a chance to check out the DREAM card yet, aside from CroCop's fight. CroCop still looked a little tentative, but at least he got the win.

Yeah, the Strikefore card definitely took a hit this week with no Shields and no Diaz, but watching Frank is usually entertaining.
The UFN card looks great, and I can't wait to watch all 3 hours of it! And with 16 fights guaranteed for the first 2 episodes of TUF, and Rampage and Forrest coaching, I'm very much looking forward to that as well.
We'll have to wait and see what the official deal is with Sylvia. At this point, I'm kinda indifferent about it. As boring as Tim can be, he is still a legit top 10 HW, so I don't see how Dana can afford to let him walk.
I really surprised Cung Le moved to MMA from San soo fights....Shamrock has the advantage in expierence but I like Cung Le's technical aspects but he MMA fight is vastly different then a San soo fight...So it will be interesting...
Another "source" saying Tim is leaving the UFC, and that he has already been given his leave.

That seems really odd to me that Dana would release someone like Tim. I figured he would've done the same thing he did to Arlovski, keep him on the sidelines as long as possible, and then bury him on an undercard.

The CroCop fight was actually the "main event" because it came off last. But yea there was major controversy in the marquee fight. JZ Calvancante and Shinya Aoki ended in a no-contest. Both guys are 2 of the top Lightweights in the world so I was pretty pumped for the fight. Anyways, JZ ended up hitting Aoki in the back of the head with elbows and Aoki couldn't continue. So the bout was a no-contest. Very crappy end to a much anticipated fight.

Yea, I'm not a Sylvia fan but I think he does have a place in the UFC. He can still beat legitimate HWs(Vera for example) and the UFC HW division is still pretty thin considering Randy is on the sidelines, CroCop is gone, and Arlovski is on his way out.
I think Dana is letting him go because he thinks Tim can no longer sell a PPV by himself. I think that's a fair point, you can't pay a guy top level money if he's not going to make you money. That's the business side view of it at least.

(Note: Dodgers, Braves and Cardinals fans everywhere are nodding and saying, "Yup ... been there, done that.")
So Big Tim has officially left and signed with...Adrenaline MMA????
So, the guy complains about his pay in the UFC, then goes to a start up company that just split off from another company (M-1 Global) that couldn't do anything in the 6 months they existed. I'm sure this company will definitely be able to give him that $250k per fight he's looking for and be sucessful. At least Adrenaline (unlike M-1) actually SIGNED Tim. Oh, and they have more than 1 fighter, they also signed Ben Rothwell. Fantastic! Wait, aren't both these guys managed by Cox? Oh, and don't they train at the same camp? So, sure, you have 2 of the top 10 HW in the world, but since they aren't going to fight each other, who else you got?
And neither of these guys are at all concerned that their boss is also their manager?
I REALLY want to see Fedor sign with the UFC now. I didn't really care before, but just to piss off Randy and Tim, I want Dana to do whatever it takes to make it happen.
Ok, this is a ****ing joke right? UFC gives us three whole hours and we're grateful. . .so they stack it with more commercials than a season premire of American Idol? WTF? I've seen about 7 minutes of fights in 50 god damn minutes. Give me a break. Gonna see about five fights over three hours? Jesus, just give me two hours then. . .

lol...I missed most of the card, so I'll take your word for it. Between getting home late from work and having to play hockey (and having dinner in between), I only saw the Hammill and the Florian / Lauzon fights. To be fair though, I'm sure it was more SpikeTV's fault than the UFC.
All I gotta say about UFN 13 is that Anthony "Rumble" Johnson looked awesome...He absolutely demolished Speers. And man, Johnson is fricking huge! That guy's 6'2", and looks like he weighs around 200lbs...and he's fighting at 170! I see a bright future for him
While Emelianenko was short on details, Sherdog.com has learned through sources close to the negotiations that Fedor-Sylvia would headline a card tentatively scheduled for the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, the home base of HDNet Fights.
HDNet Fights CEO Andrew Simon declined to comment on the report, however sources indicate the bout will air on the Mark Cuban-owned network and is rumored to be promoted by Affliction, a clothing brand closely tied to MMA.
Affliction had been connected with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, however a June 28 Las Vegas date has since been discarded.
So it's going to be aired on HDNet, but promoted by Affliction (without Golden Boy), and not by Adrenaline MMA? And we still don't know if Fedor is actually signed to anyone or if this is jsut a 1 off. So Adrenaline is providing 1 of the fighters, someone else (M-1 Mixfight?) is providing the other, HDNet is supplying the ability to broadcast the fight, and Affliction (which has never actually promoted a fight before) is responsible for the actual promotion of the fight? And who the hell is picking up Fedor's $2 million tab? Yeah, this has success written all over it. Let's get a few more hands in the cookie jar on this one.

Yea, this sounds like how a boxing fight is made. One promoter gets his guy to fight another promoter's guy. I hope it happens, I want to see Fedor fight someone of significance.

Ah, see I was never that into boxing. I liked watching the big fights, but always knew nothing of the background. So when I first read it, it just seemed like too much of a clusterf*** to actually work out.
As far as the fight itself, yes, it'll be nice to see Fedor fight some real competition for a change. Not sure how I feel about the outcome yet. Need more time to think about it.

Boxing is a mess...I hope MMA doesnt go that route...All I know is that while I do really wanna see this fight, it sounds like money wise, the promoters are gonna be losing money on this one considering Fedor's outrageous 2mil per fight demands.
