Good stuff, finally a ranking good ranking system that we can debate about. The mmaweekly rankings are frankly quite bad.

Read those this morning. One thing that seemed a little weird was the "changing" justifications. For instance, Filho at #2 in the middleweight division with wins over no Top 10 fighters, while right below him is Henderson (the Pride champion) because "it's his lack of a win over a Top 10 fighter (though he has defeated quality opposition) that prevents him from making the top two." So, it's one spot, but it just seems a little hokey to have the rankings done in (still) a random way. I don't think it will ever be even close to right until we have a lot of these guys matching up irrespective of orgs. Hopefully that can happen someday.
Vera hasn't fought in a long long time. And even still doesn't have many quality wins. Say what you want about Tim Sylvia but he does have a few quality wins.

Fedor hasn't fought a real heavyweight in a while either but he's #1

Lindland?
Yea but the last heavyweights he beat were Mark Hunt(not a great fighter but a tough one with a really goo chin), Mark Coleman(all time legend, washed up but still a threat), and Cro Cop(at that time the #2 heavyweight in the world).
Vera hasn't been that active and he hasn't beaten anybody lately. Plus Fedor is undefeated with a resume that has a lot of good fighters. I don't have an argument with him being #1.
GREAT move for him if that's true. Outside of great conditioning, I don't know if Ortiz is really teaching his guys how to be great fighters. Sure, in TUF that could be forgiven, but to get yourself to the next level, you can't just rely on that sort of thing. Training with guys like Couture, Bas, Parisyan, etc could really round out his game. Team Punishment seems pretty one-dimensional from the fighters that are turning out of there.
According to Grove, he's still a member of Team Punishment but he pretty much does all his training in Vegas. Since your a Grove fan as well, check out this chatwrap.
Speaking of Brandon Vera. The UFC confirmed he'll return in October. Good news, he's a talented fighter who finishes fights.
Wonder who his opponent will be. I'd love to see him fight Andre Arlovski. The October card isn't very strong at all, Franklin-Silva is the main event but besides that it is a hodgepodge collection of fights. Vera-Arlovski would add another marquee fight to what is already a weak card.
Talk about a great month of UFC. Starting with the PPV on the 25th, 4 events in less than a month which includes 2 on free TV. Already drooling over the events. Everybody important(just about) is involved, most importantly the return of Cro Cop and the debut of Shogun.

Turns out that I'll be in london during that one too. I might have to check out tickets to see if they're still available for a "decent" price.

At the very least try and go to the weigh ins. There are always a ton of fighters(even those who aren't fighting) that are hanging around. Good opportunity for pictures/autographs/cool stories.

THAT is something that I was curious about. Where the hell do these take place? When do they announce them? All that. I'm going to the one in Anaheim and I'd like to check those out. . .but I've no clue how to find this stuff out.
