Ok since we are on the topic of memories, how about your greatest sporting event memory. Here is my list:
1. 1980 USA Hockey Miracle Game
2. Hank Aaron 755 homer
3. Game 7 Kings v. Toronto 1993
4. Kirk Gibson's walkoff homer for the Dodgers in 1988
5. Gretzky's 802 goal
6. Cal Ripken's 2131 game in 1995
There are many more but these stick out the most for me.
As I have mentioned elsewhere, I have the following hockey games on DVD if anybody is interested:
1980 USA v. USSR
1980 USA v. Finland
Game 7 Kings v. Toronto
Gretzky's 802 goal
Gretzky's last game
Luc's last game
Listening to the Miracle on Manchester on the radio was my greatest sporting event memory.
Being at the Frenzy and the subsequent game 6 win was awesome, but I have stronger and better memories of that Miracle game, even though I only listened on the radio.
Watching team USA beat the Russians and their subsequent gold winning game was great, but I just did not have the connection with team USA like I did with the Kings. Probably because I didn't understand the political and national pride things at that age.

Game 7, Kings at Toronto.
Gibson's home run.
Magic playing center, with his baby skyhook.
Greg Lemond 1989 time-trial finish to edge Laurent Fignon in the Tour.
1997 Masters.
Me, scoring the game winning goal in every game of the Turkey-Tournament (soccer thing back in the day at El Segundo park).
Winning the hockey championship at Side-by-side with only 5 skaters and a goalie.
My holes-in-one, and back to back eagles.

My first sports memory was Super Bowl XIX. Not a great sporting event, but it was the day I became a Dolphins fan. Which maybe partially explains why I root for the Kings....
Game 7 vs. Toronto was awesome.
Game 3 vs. Detroit was great.
1999, Cal vs. Stanford - winning Big Game on the way to the Rose Bowl.
That's all for now.

Gibsons homerun. I was at the game, fans went nuts.
Miracle on Manchester.
"do you believe in miracles" gives me the chills every time.
Being on the ice for the Luc ceremony.
802 was awesome. Can still hear Bob Millers call.
Deaders goal to kill the Red Wings.
Chick Hearn's "jello's jiggilin, butter's gettin hard" speach at the close of any game.
This list is endless
One of my personal memories. I was in the front row at the Forum and Gretzky scored an empty net goal at the buzzer. He grabbed it and skated over right to me and my buddy. He looked at me, tossed it over the glass (it was like slow motion) It landed in my hands and fell to the floor. Some guy ran by from under the stands and snagged it. I guess I cant catch in slo-mo. :(

1. Game 6 of 2002 World Series, Angels come back to beat the Giants
2. Luc's # 20 sweater retirement game.
3. TGO's # 99 sweater retirement game.
Watching on TV:
1. Kings win game 7 vs Toronto and win conference. (I was at a friend's wedding that day and snuck out to listen to the 3rd period on the radio in his limo. Taped it and watched it later.)
2. Kings win game 1 of 1993 Stanley Cup Finals. It was downhill after that though.
3. Frenzy on Figueroa.
As a participant:
1. Winning the D.O.T. class in drag racing at the 2002 Super Chevy race at Pomona.
2. Winning my first gold medal in a wrestling tournament in high school.
3. Playing hockey on Staples Center Ice for the first time in an LGK pick up game.
It would have to be a game of roofball back in the early '70s. After scoring the winning catch, I nailed the loser in the crack with the Penn 3 tennis ball.
Memorable events I actually attended include the following:
(1) Gretzky's 802nd against Vancouver
(2) 2001 Playoffs against Detroit - all obvious games
(3) 1993 Final against Montreal - Game 3 (obviously, the first Final home game in Kings history)
(4) 2004 Divison Series, Game 3, Cardinals vs. Dodgers - 1st Dodgers playoff victory since clinching the World Championship in 1988....THAT place was electric only due to the fact that it was 16 FRIGGIN' YEARS since a win in the playoffs.
(5) 1999 CART (now Champ Car) Toyota 500 at California Speedway - CART rising star Greg Moore from Canada was killed after hitting the wall coming out of turn 2 and then again on the infield wall. His death was announced on TV while I was at a CART Merchandise trailer. The CART employees working the trailer were absolutely stunned by the announcement and some of them started to weep. After the announcement, an eerie silence swept over the facility and all you could hear from that moment on were the engines of the open-wheel cars racing around the track. A very somber afternoon....
