About This Page: This is a discussion on Other Sports within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Was bummed Lolo Jones hit the hurdle and didn't medal. She's hot!
I was watching Badminton one time, and the commentary said it was the 2nd most played sport in the world. The sad part is, is that America doesn't know about it. Period.
I personally don't care for tennis, so badminton is kind of simliar to it. Table Tennis just makes me blow up in laughter. Just with the small table, and how serious they look with their footing. Plus they yell and grunt all the time like tennis players. Pretty hilarious!
You should try playing it against someone, who can play it. And you wouldn't be laughing for sure. It's all about fast reflexes and it's non-stop accelearation-stop process. It's one of the most physically demanding sports, meaning that you burn 800 calories per hour if you play it the way it's supposed to be played. Of course if you can't play it, you'll burn 300 calories per hour and wonder, what's this all about.

You know what I can't stand, the damn whistle that goes off every 2 seconds in water polo. I have the TV on at my shop and thats all I hear is that damn whistle!

You know what's the sad part? The whistle should be heard at least twice that often. That's one of the dirtiest sports in the Universe. They have fingers up their asses all the time and those balls are squeezed at least 10 times during the match. Per person. Brrrr... What you hear is only when somebody is being drowned for more than just a couple of seconds, all those underwater maneuvers are not "seen." The rules and officiating take a lot of interest out of this sport.

Oh trdi. It's definitely a tough sport to train for. All sports that are played professionally definitely is definitely tough.
I just laugh because I remembered playing it as a kid. And you know how kids play. Really slow and you just want to hit the ball. To see grown men and women scream and yell at every hit. It just personally made me laugh every time.
I think it's like someone here who made a Lacrosse topic. Something about them yelling every time they poke someone.

Oh, I was screaming and yelling a lot, too. But it was mostly curse words only.

Yeah, they try to protect themselves the best they can. Wearing double pants is said to help a bit.

Water polo is BRUTAL. Just look at all the multi-colored bruises all over their bodies. Or if you don't look as closely as I do, take my word for it I know the double suit thing is also to protect against exposure in case a suit gets ripped when someone digs their toes into the seam and pulls you underwater with their legs.
Has anyone ever played water polo? We once did a kind-of-water-polo-thing in school...damn, even without physical contact it's challenging and exhausting as hell.
