I saw on the bottomline the other day Kiper had the Long's going one and two for whatever that's worth. Other than SC I don't watch enough college ball to have a preference on who they pick.
Jake Long has agreed to a deal with Miami, so he is a lock to be the #1.
Chris Long very well could be the #2 pick. The Rams need a lot of help on the dline, so I think they'll either go with Dorsey or Long.

(Note: Dodgers, Braves and Cardinals fans everywhere are nodding and saying, "Yup ... been there, done that.")
If Chris is there at 4, there will be an internal debate of who to pick, Chris or McFadden. And McFadden will be the pick if Chris is gone, with a slight chance they find a team to trade down with.
Not too surprised we got McFadden, but I was really hoping we'd pick Dorsey or Gholsten. Our defense was terrible against the run last season, and our d-line looks like it'll be one of the worst in the league. Kelly's overpaid and coming off a major knee injury, Burgess is inconsistent and unhappy with his contract, and Sands and Warren suck.
Oh well - I guess we can look forward to a Jamarcus-McFadden duo. If our o-line can protect them.
Raiders just traded a few spots in the 4th round to draft a DB out of UConn. He's listed as a CB but Mayock mentioned he could play a little FS. Also is said to be a beastly special teams player and was the fastest DB at the combine.
Drafting a CB is a tad surprising, but we need a return guy and our special teams coverage could be better. So I'm fine with this pick.
Kiper and Mayock both liked this pick by the way.

I like the Tyvon pick, if he sticks at CB he'll have more of a chance to play nickel or dime situations...right now Routt will probably play the nickel.
We have some good pieces at the skill positions...but I'm worried about our lines. Sure Cable is a great oline coach, but even some players are can't be helped to even be servicable (Harris), I hope i'm wrong, but I doubt it. And the dline is the same from last year, minus Sapp....the same line that struggled against the run. So my optimism can only go so far...
Strengths: Has adequate foot speed and can get a clean release working against press coverage. Possesses good top-end speed, tracks the ball well and can stretch the field. Reads defenses well and can locate seams when sees zone coverage. Uses shoulder to set up breaks and can get inside leverage on defensive backs. Tough and is fearless going over the middle. Catches the ball in-stride and is fluid turning upfield. Stays focused and makes tough catches in traffic. Catches the ball away from frame and isn't going to drop many passes that should catch. Takes pride in blocking and flashes the ability to sustain once in position. Shows good restraint rather than getting flagged for clipping when can't get into position but also has a mean streak and flashes a powerful punch when is able to square up. Plays with emotion and is a competitor. Has experience returning kickoffs and can contribute on special teams.
Weaknesses: Undersized, lacks the frame to comfortably add weight and is going to get pushed around by bigger corners. While is smooth getting in and out of cuts and runs adequate routes, lacks the burst to consistently separate from man coverage. Doesn't time jumps well and isn't going to win many jump balls at this point. Is faster than quick, lacks the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field and isn't a big-play threat after the catch. Runs too upright and takes some big hits. Played at a small school and there is some concern about ability to adjust to the speed of the game at the NFL level. Missed 2006 season finale with an injury, missed ten games with a season-ending knee injury in 2007 and durability is a concern.
I was surprised by the the Shields pick too, especially after Kiff said they were looking to add depth to the OL and possibly add a pass rusher in day two.
Colt Brennan just got drafted in the 5th round. I bring this up because fellow Raider fan USCKingsfan31 said he would have drafted him 1st overall last year and I thought that was hilarious. Good call Vegas Dave!
Get on the phone with Oakland, ASU. You NEED D-line support!! Stat!!
Yea, I mean at this point in the draft it's all luck if you get a productive NFL player.
The Raiders are banking a lot of Tommy Kelly excelling as the penetrating DT that they think he is. Remember he has never really played their full time. I've seen quotes from Sapp praising him to no end and a quote from Bellicek that is to the same effect. So we'll see if he's the guy.
Similarly, the Raiders will be banking on Terdell Sands to go back to the form he was 2 years ago. I'm not holding my breath but he has a lot of size and if he plays up to his ability he can be the run plugger the Raiders desperately need. He got rewarded for his play last offseason with a big contract and laid an egg. Apparently he had a lot of off the field things that had him distracted(a death in his family, I think maybe 2 that affected him) so let's cross our fingers he has a rebound year.
In any case, you should take a moment and celebrate the future and whatever it holds. Watching Russell and McFadden will be a fun combo. Let's just hope that O-line keeps them free from injury and unnecessary cheap shots.

It will be, Russell needs weapons and while Fargas is a dependable RB he is not a gamebreaker and is pretty worthless in the passing game.
McFadden can catch the rock and has that big play ability no on one the Raiders has.
I think the oline will be fine. I have a lot of faith in Tom Cable. Kwame Harris has been bad, but he's had something like 3-4 offensive line coaches in his first few years in the league. Seems like the guy never really had a chance to be good.
I don't expect the Raiders to contend next year, I'll be happy with 6 wins or so, I think one more productive draft gets the Raiders back into playoff contention.
