About This Page: This is a discussion on Football within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Walker is staying. So is defensive line coach Todd Howard and linebackers coach Chuck Bullough. Happy days!

I'm surprised he's staying. It seemed predictable that with or without Walker our defense was going to leave much to be desired (losing Davis, T.Brown, K.Brown, Taylor, Keyes, Horton, etc.). I could already see the press clippings next year, if he had left, about how invaluable he was.
This is great news. Seems like Skippy started his "recruiting" right away. I am beginning to think next year may end up being a surprise. <keeps fingers and toes crossed>

Skippy is the kind of coach that just oozes excitement (unlike Karl Dorrell) and I'm sure that was what convinced DeWayne to stay. There are coaches like Terry Donahue and Karl Dorrell who coach to teach and to be "competitive" and there are coaches like Urban Meyer & Pete Carrol who are "in it to win it"... Rick Neuheisel is one of those "in it to win it" coaches... something we haven't had at UCLA in a VERY long time. Pom Pom Peetie better be ready... because he will have to earn it if he wants his team to play in the Rose Bowl (or BCS Championship).... Slick Rick has arrived!

That might be a bit optimistic, but at least '09 and beyond should be exciting.
Also, it looks like Eric Scott isn't being retained and former Bruin Reggie Moore is going to be our WR coach.

Do you think Skippy can squeese 7-8 wins out of next year's team? I think it's very possible.... even though I'm expecting 6-7 with the team getting stronger in October/November just like Bob Toledo's first year in 1996. The thought of having (in the next few years) a high powered offense (like in 97 & 98) with an attacking agressive defense... I'm getting all tingly inside !!! : )
Kind of off topic now that Walker stayed but did anyone else hear that if Walker came to UDub that Skippy was going to ask Ken Norton, Jr. to be the Def. Coord?? That was a hot rumor here in Seattle earlier in the week.
I would love to see Norton off the condom sideline and back on the blue and gold sideline ....

That was the rumor during the Rose Bowl game, but no idea if that was just Herbstreit blowing smoke.
