The Lemieux situation was totally different than this. He took a year off to get his batteries recharged, the 2nd time was to fill the building that he owned.

That will never happen as he is still under contract with the Packers and they will not let him go to a division rival under any circumstances.

Now I hear the Packers are looking into tampering by the Vikings..

How can Bryan Burke hold down two jobs?

Now ordering Purple #4 jersey, anyone else in?

Haha, seriously. . . all Favre has to do is send in reinstatement papers.
What would the Pack do? Let him sit? I don't think they can, they have to either trade him somewhere he wants to go to or let him play for the pack. Do any of you honestly think Rodgers can beat him out in training camp, not that it would ever get to that.

I do agree he has pulled a douche move, but man I want that douche QBing my team.

Slightly OT: Damn I love losers!
Vikings, Twins, Cubs, LA Kings. . .

Brett kind of admits that the packers pushed him into retirement.

Favre says coach, GM pushed retirement - The Denver Post

Quote:
The quarterback's first substantial comments on his latest retirement decision reversal come in an interview with Fox News on "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren."
"OK, you guys have a different path, fine," Favre said, recalling a June 20 conversation with coach Mike McCarthy.
"What does that mean for me? So that means either you give me my helmet, welcome back, or release me, or attempt to trade me. We all know that's a possibility, but way-out-there possibility.
"And he says, 'Well, playing here is not an option, but we can't envision you playing with another team, you know, either.' And I thought, so basically, I'm not playing for anyone if I choose to come back."
That's a pretty crappy way for The Packers management to treat their future "Hall of Fame" QB of 17 years.

The only question to ask is where will he play?

so, how long before the NFL has a policy that all retired players must wait 12 months from the date of retirement before applying for reinstatement?

ESPN reports Favre has been traded to New York Jets

It was reported earlier that the Jets offered a conditional 3rd round pick that would eventually turn into a 1st round pick if Brett met specific terms.

As well as Fox Sports.

FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Favre out: Packers trade legend to Jets

It's going to be interesting to see the fan climate in Green Bay after they fail to make the playoffs with Aaron Rogers at the helm and Brett take the Jets there.

When was it ever watchable?

They just finished about 90 minutes of consecutive Favrah coverage.

Wait, no, they're still going.

Tomorrow they'll probably show coverage of his plane landing in the Jets training facility. It will never ever end.

The winner of this whole Favre coming back thing, John Madden...his life has purpose now.
