About This Page: This is a discussion on Football within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Here are some good matchups.
Virgina Tech VS. LSU
LSU was much more impressive in their debut while Tech struggled a bit against a pretty good Eastern Carolina squad.

Nice matchup between a good LSU rushing attack(a bruiser in Hester, uber talent in Keiland Williams) against a great linebacker corps that VaTech has with Xavier Abid.
LSU is the clear favorite here, being at home. Virginia Tech has a good offense but they struggled in their last outing and the Tigers always have great defenses.
TCU VS Texas
Didn't see the Texas game, but I heard they struggled. Still, chances are they will put away TCU.
Oregon VS Michigan
Pretty pivotal game for Michigan. They struggled with that running QB Appalachian State had and Dixon is definitely an athlete. Carr will need his team to look impressive to get off the hot seat a tad.
Miami Vs. Oklahoma
Good match up of traditional powers.
Notre Dame Vs. Penn State
Similar to the Michigan game, Weis going to need a good showing to get the pressure off of him. It wouldn't be a good idea to go into the Michigan game 0-2.
Any other games you guys are looking forward to? We're getting Colorado in Tempe. Not sure how good they are, but its a test for this ASU team that just smoked SJSU.
Also for my fellow degenerate gamblers, I'll look through some lines tommorow in class and post up my planned bets.
Lath, wondering what your planning on doing this weekend. Also where do you guys make your bets? I've been on sportsinteraction for while, but I'm always looking at other options.
Of course, I could just get a bookie.....

unless this is an epic rout, there's no way Carr's not getting off that hot seat
Cincinatti may run it up and garbage schools but OSU is pretty solid. Don't like road favorites but feel pretty comfortable here.
WSU -13.5 vs SDSU (yah I'll bet against my school)
While I love my Aztecs they suck. Young secondary and no running game. The QB would be pretty solid if the o-line wasn't a mess. The Cougs home opener and they hung 21 on a very good Wisconsin defense in Madison. They should add at least 10 pts to that against SDSU. Would be surprised if SDSU could score 17 on offense so if WSU doesn't give up defensive/special teams TD's they should cover 13.5.
Boise St -2.5 @ UW
Washington will finish near the bottom of the Pac 10. A nice road win against the `Cuse but I'm not buying it. BSU is simply a better team and a field goal isn't much to cover.
Started off 2-0 last week. 2-1 this week would be a nice follow up week.
Lath, I've got OSU (Thurs) and Wazzou this weekend also. Love the Wazzou pick.
I'll post my picks tomorrow, just giving the spreads one more day to settle.
I'm debating on whether or not I'm actually going to bet WSU. No doubt I think they'll cover 13.5... but it feels a little wrong betting against my alma mater before they even play a game this season. Meh, I like money so I'll probably do it. Plus SDSU is 0-8 against the spread in their last 8 games against pac 10 teams.

But the fact that they haven't played this season while Wazzou has (against Wisc no less) and its AT WSU is what makes it such a beautiful bet.
I feel you... but I've come to realize that not betting against your own team doesn't make them suck any less (see Raiders, Kings)
For about 30 years I've been watching Rutgers, and while I'd watch the games, getting their asses handed to them every week hardly got the juices flowing for Saturday afternoons. Now they've gotten good faster than they could revise their schedule, so the games are still lopsided but the other way around. But at least there's some interest eventually around here for college football, even if it's for one or two games later in the season. But the only potential intrigue for the first six games or so would be bad news.
