It's unfair to the fans to suggest not watching a particular game but what we can do is boycott the sponsors. Don't buy Tostitos, choose a different brand of chips. For some sponsors (such as Allstate) you really can't choose to not pay your bill but you can still be heard. Please cut and paste this text, print out in stuff it in your payment envelope:
Dear BCS sponsor,
I wish to formally complain about your company's sponsorship of College Football's BCS. I would also like you to know that I will be participating in the national boycott of all consumer products and food for companies that are BCS sponsors.
The BCS is a failed system. It brings only discredit to your company and any company that associates their name with a system that disrespects the college football fan.
The only thing more obnoxious than people that think the NHL needs shootouts is people that think there needs to be a "clear cut" National Champion for NCAA football.
About what I expected but fine ...
enjoy all the great games /sarcasm
I'm not sure how I'm being self promoting or self important by suggesting a tangible way to protest something that is not in the best interest of the fans or the sport. But I guess it's easier to take quick shots then to (oh! my god) debate the actual merits.

I have been a huge proponent for going to a playoff system AND incorporating that into the Bowl system. I couldn't see a reason that it wouldn't work (other than the powers that be not wanting to change anything). Then this week while reading TMQ he actually brought up some things I hadn't considered:
I still think a 16 team playoff while having each game be a "Bowl Game" would work. The sponsors still get their bowl game and now it actually has a meaning - win or go home. It would only take four weeks (w/ 16 teams) and there wouldn't be a legitimate gripe of a team that should have been getting a chance for the National Championship.
Don't forget, these are still college students, not professionals. "Just 4 more weeks" means they could have to miss games or practices for finals, or worse, the other way around.
Why not just scrap the "regular season" and have one giant national tournament, last team standing is the champion?
Either that or go all out - stop keeping score during the games, and at the end, have the coaches vote for who they think the winner is.

Not necessarily true. You could do a 3-week, 8-team playoff during winter break very easily. Finals end in the middle of December.
Have the quarterfinals during X-Mas week.
Have the semifinals during New Year's.
Have the championship the next week.
If college basketball can have a three-week tournament mid-semester (or during winter finals for those on the quarter system, like UCLA), why can't college football have one during break?
Good luck, even without you they have more money than god.

Most inteligent comment I have heard but I'm wondering were we would all be if something like that was said during the planning of The Boston Tea Party.

College athletes in basketball, tennis, volleyball, spelling bees, and yes .... division II football all have playoffs. They are not students? It's a dead arguement IMHO
I couldn't give two flying craps about college sports... much less college football.
Seriously, "college" football is the NFL minor league and pretending that these people are "students" is assinine.
That said, a playoff is the only way to go. I cannot respect a system that denies an unbeaten team in the same division/conference/whatever you call it... an opportunity to play for the championship. Go Hawaii... you guys got robbed.

Consider not posting in the football forum anymore.

FTFY
I could be wrong, but I don't believe the Boston Tea Party had a corporate sponsor.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled pissing contest over college football playoffs that was already in progress.
