I don't know what this does for the Rocket's chances to advance in the playoffs after losing their biggest star. He has a stress fracture on his foot and will either choose surgery or wear a cast, which both requires 4 months to heal. This sucks because this comes at the time when they have won 12 in a row and were poised to rise even higher in the conference. With the way the Western Conference is, there is no chance the team can compete without Yao in the playoffs. Houston's Yao Ming out for season with stress fracture in left foot - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
I don't think the Rockets even make the playoffs without Yao. Even this winning streak was a fluke. They beat a few good teams, but they also played a bunch of cupcakes.

He's just resting up for the Olympics. The Chinese are trying to win every medal in every event. Or he is faking injured so he doesn't have to play, thus saving face.

The streak is now at 17. The Rockets last loss came January 27th against Utah!
They are 2.5 games back of the Lakers for 1st in the West.
I can only pray that this post jinxes them and they lose tonight against the Hornets.

Their streak is impressive, but I'll be honest, out of all the Western teams the Rockets scare me the least. T-Mac has a terrible playoff resume and no team with Rafer Alston at point will get very far. I think the Rockets cake schedule during this streak has helped them out. They've played a lot of weak teams with some good teams mixed in but no elite teams.
The Lakers will win the division and get home court advantage for at the very least a few rounds. "Praying this post jinxes them", seems a bit lame.

So is their streak impressive or have they played a lot of weak teams? Which one is it?
I don't think much of the Rockets or jinxes, so the prayer line was typed tongue planted firmly in cheek, for the record.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. It's impressive that they've won that many games in a row, but it's also a fact that they have played a lot of weak teams during this run. Doesn't seem that hard to understand.

Houston will be out in the first round. A great run nonetheless but realistically Yao being out is the ultimate reason they will not advance. The West is TOO deep for a team to miss a guy like Yao.
Tonight i don't want Houston to lose, i actually want them to win. I would actually like to see New Orleans lose as many games before the playoffs because the Rockets will inevitably lose atleast 5-7 more games before then.
