Greg Oden , the Portland Trail Blazers' No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, will miss the 2007-2008 season after knee surgery on Thursday, two league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Oden, the 7-footer out of Ohio State, underwent exploratory surgery on his right knee on Thursday in Vancouver. The extent of the damage was not immediately clear, but Oden, one of the most celebrated young players in years, will be lost for the season.
The Blazers are expected to make an announcement shortly.
BREAKING NEWS

The Portland Trail Blazers announce that top draft pick Greg Oden will likely miss his entire rookie season after right knee surgery.
Wow, microfracture surgery. I'm sure Portland fans are PUMPED.

T Back to the basket players are desperately needed in this league.

Are they? I liked watching Hakeem and the old school Shaq do there thing, but I don't think basketball today suffers without guys like that. Not really a big deal for me.
With all the show from the 7ft SFs (Dirk, Yao, Amare, KG); these guys would be eaten alive by a back to the basket center. The inside-out game would open up and people would be playing better team ball, as opposed to what it is today. Even the Suns and Warriors push push push style would be thwarted with a legitimate center and made basket.
When Oden got drafted on Draft night, there was a report on the news that Season tickets were selling like hotcakes. I wonder how many are asking for a refund today?

I don't thanks... other than the 25 minutes of highlights on Sportscenter (every half hour or so) when I'm trying to get stuff on sports that really matter.

Every single NBA thread turns into this same stupid pissing match. You don't like it. We get it. Get over yourselves.
