Discuss all things Lakers in this thread

From ESPN Insider:
Regarding Andrew Bynum
Quote:
Mitch Kupchak said Andrew Bynum, who had surgery on his left kneecap on May 21, has been seeing his doctor in New York but has "not been cleared yet" to start training.
But Bynum's agent, David Lee, said his client has been cleared.

"I don't know if he said it or not," Kupchak said, referring to Lee. "But I'm just saying he has not been cleared."
And of course, the most talked about trade possibility regarding Ron Artest

Quote:
According to a league source, the Lakers already have contacted the Kings regarding Ron Artest and are believed to be offering forward Lamar Odom. As of Tuesday evening, the Kings had not returned the call. They are expected to insist on forward Kenny Thomas and his $18 million of remaining salary (over two seasons) being included in that potential trade. Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie declined comment on whether the Lakers had called.
"Right now, (Artest is) just a terrific player to have on your roster," Petrie said. "I don't really have any speculation one way or another (about his future). We'll see what other things -- not specific to Ron -- but if there's some other way we can improve the team or change the team, we'll take a look at it."
I really wish we can get Artest. And if we can keep Sasha and replace Ronny with Posey, i think we will be better off.

Ok so here's an artice denouncing the possible Ron Artest tradeRon Artest wants to be a Laker, and he wants the ball Yahoo!

And for giggles, on the page, here's a picture of Artest, which at first glance, looks like he's letting it all hang out.

Now with the two major contract disputes dealt with, i wonder what's in the works for Mitch. To be quite honest, having Odom around isn't really such a bad thing especially with Bynum playing center. The number of SFs' out there that can give the matchup problems that Odom can bring is very small. Odom really excelled during the regular season as the third option, i wonder how he will play as the fourth.

Do you give up LO's length, heighth and versatility for Artest's offense and defense? I'm going to stand by LO on this one and hope he doesn't get traded.

Update:
Lakers Sign Free Agent Josh Powell

I doubt he will make the roster, and if he does, he'll take over Ira Newble's or Coby Karl's bench spot.
