"...plays hard every single night. He is an aggressive defensive player and has a real enthusiasm for the game. He gives 100 percent every game.”
Sounds familiar...

The Clippers are the redheaded stepchild of the NBA.
If the Clippers are able to ride out Brands injury(which they should since Maggz is going to get the spotlight now), they can easily be a 5 or 6 team in the west.
On paper, they are a very good team. If Cassell can lead them on the court and Maggette play up to his All Star caliber, there's no reason the team shouldn't succeed.
We're not talking about Derek Anderson and Mo Taylor here, we actually have quality players on this team, in every position.

fathers and mothers hide your nannies. The Clippers suck dog balls. They always have and they always will. Once every decade or two they put together a decent season. Interestingly they tend to do this when the Lakers struggle thus fooling their fanbase into thinking that the city of LA will actually take them seriously. Nobody outside the 15,000 or so committed fans care about this team. If they were a hockey team they'd have 1000 fans at best.
Brand's injury is going to drop them from the standings further than they were last year. And i really think it is twilight time for Sam Cassell.
Brand is a garbage man, his points come from hustle and garbage. He is awesome, but he's still a garbage man so we can replace his 20ppg avg from last season pretty easily.
Corey Maggette is the best scorer on the team and should have been the start of the offense, but Dumbleavy screwed that up. With Brand out, Maggette will finally get the opportunity to take all the shots he wants. I suspect Maggette will average over 27pts a game, if not 30.
Secondly, Maggette is a driving machine. He puts everyone on defense in foul trouble by just touching the ball. With his offense being showcased, he is going to cripple the other team, and the Clippers won't be facing the A squad for 48 minutes a night. They will have to play the third stringers.
Nobody is discussing Thornton for some reason, but he is a piece of lean beef who can play the 2-4. There's no good reason why he can't have a good season.
The Clippers won't be able to substitute any single player for Elton Brand, but they should be able to get by with smart coaching* and some effort**.
