Keep in mind, "far more" was referring to a few aspects of soccer. Not as players in general. And in the last 10 matches of last season I saw Wayne Rooney help lift United to a title. A relegation battle is a high pressure situation but times that by 10 and you get the pressure sitation of a title race. Not to mention United were playing in 3 competitions as opposed to the one Tevez was playing. Yea, Tevez showed his hunger to win, has Rooney showed anything less? Especially playing for United?
As far as discipline, in a United shirt Rooney is a different animal. He's still, well quite frankly an ******* but he wasn't sent off last year and if I can recall correctly he has only been sent off once for United. For England, I'll agree with you saying that mentally Rooney is a bit of a train wreck but the England set up can be a bit of a train wreck to be honest.
Tevez was great at the Olympics but the Olympics aren't a big deal in the whole scheme of things in soccer. First of all performing great as a teenager is great and all but its a U-23 tournament...... You get the three overage players but for the most part its a U-23 tournament. And even for it being a U-23 tournament not that many teams send the best U-23 team they can send. From your statement you make it seem like Tevez led a decent Argentina to glory by doing everything on the pitch. He played well but that Argentina team was stacked and was by far the best team in that tournament. Take a look at the squads in that tourney, not a single team comes close to the quality Argentina put out there.
I'm not taking away anything from Tevez, but Olympic soccer is just not that great an accomplishment... Again it's a U-23 tourney...
I'm not sure what being protected by Ferguson means. I mean he was performing at a pretty high level for United as a teenager. That's not very easy. I respect the Argentina and Brazillian leagues but I think peforming at a high level for Manchester United is proving yourself enough.
MESSI >>> Tevez & Rooney

I never questioned Rooney's hunger to win, just his bad temper.
ASU, if you were to throw down 30 million to buy either Tevez or Rooney and not both, who would you acquire?
Let me see how Tevez does in a title run and I'll let you know!

(Note: Dodgers, Braves and Cardinals fans everywhere are nodding and saying, "Yup ... been there, done that.")
Sorry dude, but what the hell were you guys thinking not buying a left winger or two in the off season?
In hind sight, the money was wastefully spent on Bent when it could have gotten you guys what you actually needed.
yeah Spurs can never find a good left winger, I don't know why, just like the Kings can never find a goaltender, the Dodgers a third basemen or the Bears a QB some things will always be a mystery.
I think the Bent fee was ridiculous but he does have a brilliant first touch and I feel in the long run He will be worth the money alas I fear He will be with one of the big four within 3 years and Spurs will recoup their money and still be on the edge of cracking the top four with limited success.
Personally, had Tevez played with Scholes, Giggs, C. Ronaldo, and Carrick, I think he'd do just as well as Rooney in a title run.
It works both ways, I think Rooney would have won a gold medal if you put him in place of Tevez in that Argentine team.
I know for sure how Rooney performs in a title run. People say he had an off year last year and he still had 23 goals in all competitions. I know Rooney can play on both wings and in a support and main striker role.
Tevez for all his talents has proven his worth in half a season of premier league play. The South American leagues are great and all and so are the olympics(again a glorified U-23 tourney) but some of you guys are selling Rooney short. Somebody said Tevez is twice the player Rooney is? That's a bit of a joke.

So, is Martin Jol the right man take the Spurs further?
By the looks of the new and improved Newcastle, we could be talking about the big 6 by this time next season, that's including the Spurs because Dawson, King, and Lennon are still out injured.
