Just under 2 hours until the Champion's make their 2007-08 debut. I'm really really hyped for this EPL season and specifically Man U. Can't really argue with the signings they've made but I really didn't like the idea of selling Smith. I understand he wanted to play first team football but Saha gets hurt at least once each year ditto Ole Gunnar. Smith is injury prone as well but he's at least another option! He's a different type of striker than the other and of course in a pinch he can fill in at midfield. Oh well though, can't worry about it now.
No real word on what the starting 11 will be. Of course there are the locks. Rooney, Ronaldo, Rio, Vidic, Scholes, Van de Saar and Giggs will all start. Evra is close to a lock and probably Saha as well. Most fans are 50/50 regarding Carrick vs. Hargreaves. I think Carrick will get the nod though. United's attack is much much more fluid when he's in the side although against a team like Reading who aren't afraid to attack Hargreaves isn't a bad option.
Sir Alex has stated that Anderson and Nani will be in the squad. Ideally they would get a run out with United holding a 2 goal lead. I'm not holding my breath though, I like Reading's team. They aren't afraid to play an attacking game against a bigger opponent(Steve Coppell comes from the United school of football) and it should be a fun and entertaining game to watch.
Also Captain Neville is out for this one and no word on whether Tevez will feature. He wasn't able to play in any preseason games so he can't be fit. Wouldn't be surprised if he's on the bench though!
A fun slate of games so far in week one. Here's to a good season everyone!
A tough result for Fulham they probably deserved a point but Arsenal definitley deserved to win. If that makes any sense.
Makes plenty of sense in most of Arsenals games. You just knew if they ever scored the floodgates would open. They're either going to score two or three or zero.
They're going to really miss Gilberto on corners and set pieces. So many corners today and not one resulted in anything remotely dangerous. Bendtner looks like he will be that guy in the future.

Agreed. Seemed like one of those games. Of course it helps when Fulham's backline is involved. Especially Zack Knight!

Arsenal have never really been great at corners. Sol Campbell used to offer a threat but really they have never really been a squad that could really really make you pay for giving away corners.
Bendtner was a guy who really impressed me though. I don't think Arsenal has had a forward of his capabilities. He's a bit like the traditional English #9 striker. A bit of a battering ram who can also hold the ball up effectivley. Arsenal have had tall forwards in the past like Kanu for example but they haven't been big aerial presences. I think Bendtner will be a really good option for Wegner. Especially in Europe.

Ferguson said last week that Tevez won't feature today.
Owen Hargreaves' knee isn't 100% so I think Carrick should get the nod early on.
