Almost hurt if not every year is an exagerration. He hasn't been effective but the market is fairly thin. He's a gamble worth taking.

I suppose it was. I remember him being hurt every year except 07 but the numbers don't really back that up.

Yea, I mean that's fair, I thought his option was a lock to be picked up before the season, but now I'm not so sure.

My thing is we have so many holes to fill that 6 million and change isn't a bad price to gamble on Penny getting healthy. If we miss out on CC, the next best options are AJ Burnett and Ben Sheets. Talented pitchers in their own right, but they have durability concerns as well.

McDonald is an internal option but I'd ideally like to see him get a stint in the bullpen like Billingsley got.
