I don't know but if McCourt makes him feel the heat, I think he'll pull the trigger on a deal. It's safe to say that Kershaw, Billingsley, Martin, and Kemp are untouchable but beyond that I don't know.

Gentlemen, it appears we've found someone to blame for last night's loss.

4 games vs. The Mets coming up. Two of the best teams in the National League squaring off in the Big Apple as Joe Torre returns to NYC for the first time. The Mets have won 2 of their last 3 and appear to be playing for the life of Willie Randolph, meanwhile The Dodgers were swept by the Cubs having scored 3 runs in their last 3 games.

I'll tell you what, the thing about these Dodgers is you don't know what to expect week-to-week. As streaky a team as I've ever seen in my 50 years of baseball experience. We're not seeing enough consistency from them on a game-to-game basis. Lately, they've been getting good starting pitching lately, which is the most important part of any team's pitching, but they haven't shown enough consistency on offense. Now, any time you have gamers like Jeff Kent, Nomar Garciaparra and Andruw Jones out hurt, your offense is gonna suffer. Those guys are the catalysts for the Dodger offense and they're gonna need them back and healthy if they're gonna make a run for the post-season. The veteran guys need to lead the team. They need to start putting together and manufacturing runs. Juan Pierre has the ability to be one of the most versatile players in the league but he hasn't put it together yet. He still gets on base a lot and steals a lot of bases. But the rest of the team hasn't followed suit. Matt Kemp is a guy I look to. He's got a lot of energy but he hasn't shown the consistency or power a guy his size should. He's gotta be more aggressive at the plate in order for the Dodgers to be successful.

Dodgers' Abreu out for the year

Dodgers rookie infielder Tony Abreu underwent season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right hip Wednesday that was his second operation in eight months and will take at least another three months to recover from.

The surgery repaired a torn labrum in Abreu's hip joint that is believed be the cause of groin pain that has sidelined him from baseball activities, and he can now expect to resume those in about six weeks.

"Hopefully, this solves all the problems," Manager Joe Torre said.

For a brief time, Abreu had been in line to be the team's opening day third baseman and would have also spent time playing shortstop for an injured Rafael Furcal and back up at second base.

But rest and rehabilitation on a groin strain suffered during a March 25 spring training game has not enabled Abreu to play without discomfort, so he was examined by leading hip surgeon Marc Philippon at his Vail, Colo. clinic and had the procedure done there.

Abreu also underwent surgery last October to repair a torn abdominal muscle, three months after originally injuring himself.

2 of the best teams in the NL? You're joking right? Unless you mean on paper in a fantasy league from the last few years. Neither team makes the playoffs.

Penny needs to get his **** together. And Kent just smoked a one run homer for the only run the Dodgers will get tonight.
