Good game out of Billingsley. Seemed like today he didn't try and nibble and got a lot of easy ground outs.

(Note: Dodgers, Braves and Cardinals fans everywhere are nodding and saying, "Yup ... been there, done that.")
Good win. It's nice to see signs of a good offensive team (something I felt really questionable about in the spring.) Some guys appear to be overachieving but it'd be nice to see Kemp, Furcal and Martin all represent the Dodgers in the all-star break.
One thing I'm noticing is the fun these guys appear to be having. Sure, winning will do that to you but everything from Torre setting up the Penny/Lasorda confrontation after one of Tommy's speeches to the silent treatment for DeWitt's homer to even Kent giving the guys a "shhh" after getting the slowest triple in MLB history - it's certainly something that I like to see especially after the hostile tension that The Dodgers ended the season with. I wonder how much Torre has to do with these guys playing composed and loose.
3 games back, MFers.

This team is reacting just like I hoped when they brought Joe in. No offense to Grady, who seems like a generally good guy, but Torre is just what the blue needed.
Here we come d'backs!

On 3B. DeWitt has done a nice job and has certainly played better than anybody would have thought. I'd take him over Nomar at 3B in a heartbeat. LaRoche? I'm a little biased as I've always thought Andy would be the bust out of all the young Dodgers. That being said I'm all for him getting another shot as he certainly has a higher ceiling than DeWitt. DeWitt has played well enough to start for now. If Andy is good enough to take over the starting position he will. Let them battle it out.
3 back is nice. The offense has been really good the last few weeks. Bills has had a few nice starts in a row. Things are looking pretty decent right now.
• Heard this: Rafael Furcal wants to re-sign with the Dodgers, but if he does not have a new deal by midseason, he will test the market in the fall. He's 30 and is going to be expensive; he will command the type of deal that few teams can afford. He'd be perfect fit for the Red Sox, with his .453 on-base percentage, if Boston looks to supplant Julio Lugo.
Torre said Garciaparra might need to complete a minor league rehabilitation assignment depending on how quickly he progresses. Is his spot as the everyday third baseman secure upon his return?
"He really didn't do anything wrong, he just got hurt," Torre said. "I think he certainly needs an opportunity to pick that up."

Jason Schmidt, recovering from shoulder surgery, is scheduled to pitch a simulated game today and could begin a rehabilitation assignment this weekend

After seeing a blurb about the Angels/Royals game yesterday in which Tomko pitched 7, count them... SEVEN scoreless innings with 7 K's against the Halos, I thought I'd do some research and update you guys on several ex-Dodgers' play this year.
