I did read that. Interesting that they are already saying that the Dodgers will not pick them up. Why would Ned decide right at this moment that they will not pick up the options?

Confirmed by Boras on 710, the Options were removed from the contract due to Manny waiving the NTC to go to the Dodgers.

Barring any unforseen circumstances, Manny will be in uniform tomorrow night.

If Manny walks and LaRoche pans out to be awesome, then I would be depressed.

Personally, I think the move makes the Dodgers favorites to win the division. But I do not think they will go further than the first round.

But hey, if the Rockies can catch lightning in a bottle, anything is possible.

That's pretty much it. The Dodgers have a lot of holes to fill next year:

SS
2B
SP
3B
RP

Some of those holes can be filled with internal options but not all of them. Bringing back Manny would be nice, but probably isn't practical.

That's what I'm guessing for the near future.
Thats a pretty impressive 1-8...especially if Kemp and Ethier can continue to work the count deep.

Once again Im no baseball expert but-why dont more batters try and work the count deep? It kills me to watch guys hacking at the first pitch or two and pop it up or foul out or hit the lazy fly.

I generally agree with you. It's just about walking the fine line between patience and complacency.

Granted, you can pop up or foul out or hit the lazy fly late in the count too. (Or you can be Andruw Jones, lead the team in P/PA, and strike out all the time.)<
