What a great move by the Dodgers, if they can just now get Maddux back in a trade for the rotation, look out.

With Manny is this the new lineup/batting order...

Pierre
Kemp
Ramirez
Kent
Martin
Blake
Loney
Ethier

Pretty potent batting order there.

The only way they could do it now is via waivers or if Maddux passes through waivers unclaimed and the Dodgers work out a deal. Still very possible, that's for sure.

You have 4 OFs and no SS with that lineup. Potent but pretty atrocious in the field!

I think the deal saves Colletti's job. But is it worth it just to make the playoffs?

As a Yankee fan, now teams can pitch around Ortiz. I am suprised they gave up Hansen.

Of course Manny isn't a great clubhouse guy but I think that is less of a deal in baseball than it is in other sports.

Again, I'm the biggest LaRoche fan around and I'm fine with this deal.
Oh, like I said, I'm fine with the deal from a value standpoint.

But am I wary that Ned looks awfully comfy tossing out prospects when we're a dubious contender?

And just because it's completely okay on paper (good even), doesn't mean I think it's going to work.

Hansen has potential, but so far he has sucked. Not a huge loss. Bay's numbers are comparable to Manny's. He's not Ramirez, but I wouldn't be a whole lot more comfortable than I was last week.

Besides, Boston still has their best outfielder. David Jonathan Jesus Christ Drew!

Once your in the playoffs everybody has a shot. Yes, it is worth it, Manny is a difference maker in the lineup and if Furcal comes back healthy(a big if I know) we have a damn good lineup in place.

Our pitching is good, Billingsley, Lowe, Kuroda, hopefully Penny. That's not bad in the post-season, plus we have a pretty strong pen.

I'm more than willing to trade LaRoche and Morris to roll the dice in the playoffs with this roster.

Maybe Hansen can concentrate now without the pressure. Or fans for that matter.

Really? Hansen is arguably the worst prospect going to Pittsburgh in that deal. BoSox ruined his development calling him up to fast and his upside is a set up guy. Pretty sure the Red Sox didn't give a **** about tossing in Craig Hansen.

Don't get me wrong, Bay is a solid player. But in no way is he Manny. Manny gets on base more. Has better plate discipline and can swing at anything.

I also think Manny's numbers will decline in Dodger Stadium, but he is a solid addition nonetheless.

Stop making me defend him!!! LOL.

I think he needed time and the lack of pressure in Pitt will help. But you are right. He was brought up too fast.

Manny can hit anywhere. Of course his career home splits will go down, but he'll be fine. Great hitters can hit in any park.
