Dodgers acquire Casey Blake from the Indians. Ehhh...Why not continue to play DeWitt and LaRoche? Just another older right handed hitter in Blake. He's not familiar with NL pitching, since he's been in the AL his entire career.

Dodgers give up Jon Meloan and Carlos Santana.

Again, this is a scaled-down version of the eight-player deal the clubs never consummated earlier this month. That one was CC Sabathia, Casey Blake and Jamey Carroll for (I believe) Santana, Matt Kemp, James McDonald, Cory Wade and Andy LaRoche.

There was no doubt he was going to make a stupid trade for the sake of making a trade. I'm just glad it wasnt more than two prospects. Or two prospects and Ethier or something worse.

Ned might not be done yet. Now that we have a "third baseman" who is a "gamer" we'll probably send LaRoche to the Padres for Greg Maddux.

I'm not gonna give Ned that much credit. Street has been average this year but at least he might be useful for a few more years. I'm more confident in Ned giving up a few prospects for a rent a vet like Maddux. Why? Because he's a "gamer"!
