About This Page: This is a discussion on Baseball within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. So I haven't seen a baseball game in a month. What'd I miss?
LaRoche hasn't been good. The argument that he needs to start X number of games in a row is retarded. It's not like he's coming in to pinch hit once a week. Dude got to start 8 of 11 while DeWitt was struggling and what did he do. .194, 1 HR, 1RBI. The guy still doesn't have a hit with RISP. I'm all for LaRoche going on a tear and winning the job but until he does something other than be the brother of a big leaguer DeWitt should get most of the starts.
.
I don't understand this reasoning at all. DeWitt has flat out sucked the last few weeks. He has proven over more ABs that he can't handle Major League pitching right now. I don't see why it hurts to let LaRoche start at 3B for even just 3 weeks. I hate to break it to all the people on DeWitt's nuts but the guy has ****ing sucked at the plate. It was a nice story while he lasted but he's outmatched.
The only thing LaRoche has done to earn playing time is perform in the minor leagues, something DeWitt hasn't even done. But because DeWitt had 2 good weeks in the majors he deserves to keep playing even though he has been utter crap lately? Give LaRoche 3 straight weeks of playing time and let's see what he does.

(Note: Dodgers, Braves and Cardinals fans everywhere are nodding and saying, "Yup ... been there, done that.")
Also, at no point in time this season has LaRoche started 8 of 11 games. He's started 10 games this season. Total (Ergo he is definitively bad at baseball and deserves no valid shot to prove otherwise).

Maybe he didn't start all 8 games, I don't have time to click on every game log. In 8 of 11 he had 3 AB's or more so I just assumed he started. He could have been a sub in a game that went extra innings. Whatever the case, dude had a consistent amount of AB's in a 2 week stretch and did dick.
Let him start tonight and if he does alright at the plate give him another start or two. I'm all for offensive production but the guy has to show at some point that he is capable of providing some.
BTW, Kemp is not a "free swinger." It's one thing to swing for the fences at balls around the plate and miss. It's quite another to continually swing at balls that are a foot outside or bounce in front of the plate. Dude will be a really good player if he ever develops plate discipline.
Well, Blake DeWitt should really be leading off. And not just tonight... but every night. You know, to set an example for the other batters. DeWitt brings it. And this team could use more consistency and concetration at the plate and Blake DeWitt is the key... to our success. He plays the game the right way and the others should follow his lead. Blake...DeWitt...is our savior.
Damn. We really have nobody to fill in with Pierre and Furcal out. The Kemp experiment went pretty horrible with him striking out 30% of the time but is Nomar a solution? Meh, guess there really isn't anybody else.

Need to get a W with AZ winning today.
My pick would have been Ethier since he'll talk a walk and doesn't strike out too much. But he's doing well in the 2 hole so it's hard to move him.

Pierre was pretty easily our worst leadoff hitter this year. He OBP'd .294 hitting in the leadoff spot this year. Unforgivably bad.
(in #1 spot: Kemp .340/Furcal .440...sorely missed)

Hopefully, a career .307 hitter, former MVP and multiple All Star selection named Don Mattingly can help him with that.
Maybe Andruw Jones should lead off. Get that K out of the way.

Is it me or has Martin been pretty bad at throwing guys out this year. I could be totally wrong but it seems like it's been awhile since he's thrown somebody out.
