The talk from most of those that followed the NHL, as well as those in the Kings' organization, felt this team would at least compete for a playoff spot for most of the season.
By December, mostly everyone knew that was not going to happen.
To the surprise of those same people, The Phoenix Coyotes, through the play of their young kids, came out of nowhere and up until this weekend was on the tails of the 8th seed.
And with all of that , Phoenix sits in 10th in the Western Conference with 73 points, 5 behind the 8th place seed in the West.
The Coyotes played pretty well and more consistently than The Kings.
Bryzgalov played like most people expected LaBarbera to all year. & most importantly, the kids will gain a wealth of experience playing meaningful hockey in March.
So, my question to all of you is... if the Coyotes finish in the 9th or 10th seed in the West and wind up selecting 14th or 15th overall... would you prefer to be where they are at or would you rather be where The Kings are at to have all of those picks... at the beginning of EACH round, but going through another year with dissapointing results and few things to cheer about in the present situation...

Give me Stammmmmmkos! If the roster we had could of made the playoffs I would have been extatic. On the bright side I can't remember the last time we had this many good forwards. We've gone from Taylor needs to get us 2 top 6 forwards and a goalie to Lombardi needs to get us 2 top pairing defenseman and a goalie. The more things change the more they stay the same.

No , but that may be us next season if we got average goaltending.
i may end up wrong, but i for one remain unconvinced about Ilya Bryzgalov... and they just gave him $12 million dollars.
they have a good, young team, but i still have issues with my not being able to let go of the thought that they are slightly overachieving, and next season will either be a small step backwards or to the side... particularly with a couple of their defensemen... especially Ed Jovanovski and Nick Boynton, with Jovocop having a really good year and Nick playing much MUCH better than anticipated.
i also have a feeling that they are going to get roasted on Radim Vrbata's next contract.

They seem to have a very high opinion of him... his 08/09 cap hit will be 12th highest in NHL amongst goalies. Too high? They basically gave him Toskala's salary with only goalies like Vokoun, Nabokov, Turco, Brodeur,... ahead of him.
