That gives him 158 goals... 736 away from Gretzky's 894.

He turns 23 at the beginning of next season.

Can he average 50 goals a season for the next 15 seasons?

No. To score as many goals as Gretzky did, one would have to be considerably better than him, because I believe it's harder to be as dominant as a goalscorer today. I don't see anyone, that would be considerably better than Gretzky today.

I think he has a real legit shot at 650, maybe even 700, and even that may be lowballing him, but 900? I don't think so.

As good as Ovechkin is, that record is ridiculously high... everything would have to go in his favor for a decade and a half, I'll have to say no.
