Crap, I accidentally voted "yes." No, Gretzky's record is unbreakable. I do think he will break Luc's record as a left winger, however (unfortunately). I'm a big fan of Alex, though.

You can't really compare the two alot of things have changed in the NHL but i still think Ovy can do it i don't now why i feel this way but i say he reaches 70 goals next year and the following year making him closer to the record.
Backstrom to Ovechkin....He shoots he SCORES !!!
THey are only going to get better together.........
Let's not forget Alexander Mogilny and Teemu Selanne from 1993. They both had 70 goal seasons that year but that didn't continue from 94 on. You just can't tell but time will.

Considering he could have 60 this year, it isn't an impossibility. I know it is hard to imagine with kids like him and Crosby but they are JUST KIDS... their primes still await them.
Every 60, 65, 70 he racks up now means a 40, 35, 30 he can rack up later.

if i'm not mistaken, Mike Bossy has the record for consecutive 50-goal seasons at 9. in 5 of those he scored at least 60... Bossy only played 10 years.
although Ovechkin will hit 60, they are a rare feat. 70-goals, even more rare... and Wayne hit at least 70 four times.
you talk about kids... Gretzky was 21-years old when he scored 92 F***ING goals.

Is this topic serious? The goalies today are too good and wear much bigger equipment than the old days.It can't happen unless the drastic step of enlarging the nets takes place and even then it will be difficult because I'm sure the increase will be just a few inches if it ever happens.
