About This Page: This is a discussion on NHL Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. the best thing that Sundin can do for both himself AND the Toronto Maple Leafs is waive his no-trade clause.
That, to me, sounds like someone whose "right spot" is on the Maple Leafs.
Well if it's the "right spot" how come he hasn't extended his contract?

Management has to offer you a contract extension. Giving him a contract extension would eliminate his trade value, which is sky high right now.
Sundin doesn't want to get traded.
Management WANTS to trade him.
I would assume that Sundin does the Sakic plan and just keeps resigning one year deals until he decides to hang them up.

If Sundin went to managment and said, I'll take a 1 year 3 million dollar extension I bet both sides would do it in a heartbeat.
I mean after all he REALLY wants to stay right? Then if he really did he'd take less money.
I kinda doubt that Sundin would throw away any chance of ever winning a ring. If the right deal comes along he'll waive his NTC, probably under the condition that the team that trades for him declines to exercise the club option in his contract. Then he would be free to play for his beloved Maple Leafs again.
I could HONESTLY tell you why, but your not going to believe me even if I was to tell you because like alot of people on here don't wanna ever believe what they to say. If you want me to break it down for you on a quick note (rather than the WHOLE damn story) a really close friend of mine is partically training the Edmonton Oilers that he just recently started not to long ago (maybe about a month ago or so). He is to start training them more continuously ALL more during the off-season. This is all thanks to a VERY special player on a team in the NHL for giving a holla out to the Oilers.
