Well, the Stars have been playing without Zubov since mid-January and they've still been red hot. And Boucher was just activated from the IR so I don't think they'll be cooling off anytime soon.
Luckily the Stars still have Turco in net, so we still have a great chance of that pick being in the 16-20 range. As shown last year, it doesn't matter how good he plays in net, it's never quite good enough to win a series. He's still only won 1 playoff series in 5 chances, so let's hope that trend continues.

THE ANAHEIM DUCKS WILL WIN
THE STANLEY CUP AND PICK FIRST
IN THE NHL DRAFT!!!
Gee, I called that the Ducks would luck into the first pick last week. Here's my post:

All of you going nuts for this guy will be disappointed. I haven't seen anyone else make this prediction so let me be the first. With the luck that those fowl beings down the 5 have, they will win the lottery and get the number one pick. Look at the history. Ducks make it to the Stanley Cup finals and shouldn't see a top 20 pick and yet get the number two pick due to the stupidity of the post-lockout lottery. This year they get Edmonton's first round pick for losing Penner. Edmonton, of course, has a carppy year so the pick will be a good one. I won't even go into the rest of the lucky things that have fallen into the pond that made them the team they became. Why should their luck change now?
Dang, I hate the DUICKS!

I just didn't add the Stanley Cup win prediction. It feels like history is repeating itself.
Really? That's fascinating because here's the thread I started titled "The Ducks will repeat as Cup champs AND pick first in the draft." dated February 2nd.

I prefaced the post that I hadn't seen that thread. Obviously, without knowing your thoughts, we agreed that this will probably happen. SCARY!!!!

Some posters around here just like to make up things to suit their personal opinions and then others use them as facts in the future.
I will not be hanging the genius label on Burke anytime soon. C'mon, Pronger was practically handed to Burke, and Lowe was a complete fool for the Penner offer. Yes, Burke is a solid GM, but he has also been the beneficiary of some pretty questionable moves by some of the other GMs out there. You don't have to be a genius to make a lot of the moves he has made, almost anyone would have made them.
If you take GM raping out of the equation then what does that say about Lombardi? His only positive move while in Los Angeles was getting Jack Johnson in a very Burke-esque ass reaming.

If you guys are going to point out Burke's strengths go with his recognition and development of young talent. Obviously this is also the responsibility of the scouting and coaching staff but like most things in Hockey, imho, it starts at the top
