The Kings are doing what they can. Why do you think they brought up Cloutier? I do agree that Stamkos on the Ducks is really a sick thought. Kevin Lowe is a fricken moron if it ends up being stamkos for Penner. with more picks to come. Just astonishing.
The only way the Ducks will get a player like Marian Hossa or Ollie Jokinen is giving up Edm.'s #1 pick. But as Maximus has said, Burke is keeping the pick. It would be ironic if Burke did have to trade that pick away and the Kings end up getting it. I know wishful thinking.
I will not be hanging the genius label on Burke anytime soon. C'mon, Pronger was practically handed to Burke, and Lowe was a complete fool for the Penner offer. Yes, Burke is a solid GM, but he has also been the beneficiary of some pretty questionable moves by some of the other GMs out there. You don't have to be a genius to make a lot of the moves he has made, almost anyone would have made them.
If you guys are going to point out Burke's strengths go with his recognition and development of young talent. Obviously this is also the responsibility of the scouting and coaching staff but like most things in Hockey, imho, it starts at the top.
You would have to think that the Oilers will do ANYTHING to win in order to lower the chances the Ducks get a #1 pick. Lowe has got to do something at the deadline to help his team achieve just that and to save his own job.

This should be the second year in a row in which Kevin Lowe should be given the Ducks MVP award.
Leafs Lunch today is so funny. While we debate the merits of the Kings tanking or not they are discussing how to make the Leafs a crappier team down the stretch and how Fletcher better get busy trying to figure out a way to make them suck the rest of the season.
One caller: "If we win tonight, we'll be out of the top 5 and the Stamkos Cup will be slipping away."
Another caller: "We all know that this is when the Leafs' vets all play their best hockey, when it doesn't matter."
Bill Waters said, "Don't be surprised if Fletcher trades Toskala and the Leafs go with red light Raycroft the rest of the way."
