Talk about kicking trading season off with a bang. I would hate to see St. Louis kicking our ass for the next three seasons and even worse, I'd hate to see all of those miraculous Kings comebacks against Turco end.
If he is close, it makes sense financially for the Stars; they shave $700,000 this year and $1.4 million next year off of the cap... plus Turco becomes a free agent in 2010/11 and St. Louis is still locked up (at the bargain price of 4 mil).
funny thing is, when the Stars were seen scouting Tampa, Spector immediately wrote about how it'd be a matter of time before this s*** popped up again.
Dallas would be dumb founded if they traded Turco before the end of the season. St. Louis is a good scorer, but goaltending will be the key in the Star's playoff run and I don't think Mike Smith is ready to be their #1 goaltender this season.
It makes sense in the idea that Dallas is really hurting for scoring and has a backup that has shown only flashes of being ready, and that Tampa is really hurting for some solid goaltending.
I think the way Dallas plays their game, Smith will be able to keep it together to have a playoff run. I'd be really surprised if St. Louis is very happy being taken away from Lecavlier, so I would expect him to finish the season on a down note and off his current point pace.
