I'm all for getting rid of the trapezoid. That's when ol' Hexy can come downstairs and really start teaching a thing or two to all of the goalies in the organization.
I am told Rick DiPietro is a couple of weeks away from returning; once that happens, and if he stays healthy, the Islanders will move Martin Biron. The team is already getting calls for Biron and it shouldn't be hard to move him. His one-year, $1.4 million deal is easy to digest and he's a darn good goalie.
I hope they get rid of that trap-zoid. I understand why they did it, but let it go.
With me growing-up watching Peter Forsberg throughout many years of him playing on the Colorado Avalanche back in the day when he was healthy and dominant was amazing an all. But for the last 5 or so odd years he has been not that same type of player. He may be trying to do whatever it is to make a comeback in the NHL or another league to play for, but he is tore up from the floor up so hang-up the skates already.
The trapezoid was put in so that goalies would stop slowing down the game right?
I think the delayed off-sides is a great rule and is good enough to keep the flow of the game going. The same thing with the puck over glass delay of game penalty.
Take away the trapezoid and let skilled goaltenders do their thing. Obviously, keep the delay of penalty (puck over glass) penalty in the game if the goalie decides to throw it over when the forecheck pressure is on.
