From what depths of your mind did you generate this thought?
I, too, think this isn't a bad idea. This year, playoffs are priority. Biron is an experienced goalie, and would be a solid backup (or starter, if Quick doesn't really perform in playoffs). Quick wouldn't have such a big load on his back, and it's much better to head into the playoffs with at least one goalie with experience playing there. Ersberg is movable and Biron's contract is pretty. Next season, Biron goes buh-bye via free agency, and we have Bernier-Quick tandem to start the season in LA, and Jones&Zatkoff in Manchester.
I haven't noticed a difference in play with or without the trapezoid. Also, those soft foam helmets for fighting would make guys like Meat-head look like he got off the short bus. Funny, but lame.

Please get rid of the trapezoid. It's hard enough to explain hockey to people without trying to explain why we need to use a trapezoid behind the goal line.
The trapezoid was put in so that goalies would stop slowing down the game right?
It was done so that goalies would stop killing the forecheck, actually. And god no please don't remove it. The last thing we need is for Quick to have more license to roam out of the net and try to play the puck.
How stupid do people have to be to not understand this rule anyway? The goalie can't play the puck behind the goal line unless it's inside the trapezoid. Rocket science? Apparently.

That's one of the reasons they should remove it. Goalies who can play the puck well (Brodeur, Turco) will, those that can't will create scoring chances when they try and fail, and those that can't and know it will stay in their crease regardless.
