About This Page: This is a discussion on NHL Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Wow. Just saw this. Awesome.
defensive pairings are the most likely to change. also marleau might center the 2nd line, but pavs and mitchell are both too good to center the 4th, so one would have to play wing, which i believe they never have. clowe and roenick will take shifts with the scoring lines, but will not permanently be part of them.
Slight update for the Devils: Vishnevski going back to Russia, and Rolston stated that he's more comfortable at wing (meanwhile Elias played okay at center last year).
Wouldn't be surprised if Parise stayed on Elias' wing and Rolston played on Zajac's line. Of the prospects who could earn an opening night gig:
RW Nicklas Bergfors - '05 first rounder who made the opening night roster last year but injured his shoulder in the first game. Was sent down to the AHL and never earned a promotion. Would love to see him earn a spot but that doesn't seem definite by any means.
C/LW Petr Vrana - '03 second rounder who has made steady offensive progress in the AHL. Undersized with good wheels. This definitely seems like a make it or break it type of year for him.
D Anssi Salmela - Undrafted Finnish defenseman with an offensive slant to his game. If he can show any sort of penchant at running a PP in the preseason, I imagine he'll get a long look.
D Matthew Corrente - '06 first rounder who has been one of the last cuts each of the previous two preseasons. A full year in the AHL seems like the best course of action for his development.

This.is.AWESOME!
This thread needs one person dedicated to each team in the league that could give reports like Brodeur did here.
I'll do the Ki-iiiings.
Not really.
I'll pick the Canadiens as my team to keep track of.
Everyone else, please adopt a team and post their latest info here, as I'll do for the Habs shortly.
Man, Pittsburgh's lines could be quite different on opening day. Obviously, Letang is hurt, but my Dad's telling me there's all kinds of rumors about Staal playing on Malkin's line this year and basically no one is a lock where they're at save for Crosby and Malkin.
I'll keep you posted Bogey.
EDIT: Said Letang, mean Whitney. Duh.

I keep forgetting, apparently Fedor Fedorov will have a legit shot at making the club. I really don't know what to make of him, unless he really upped his game overseas. Although the (alleged) funny story to go with Fedorov is that while he was on Vancouver's farm team, he wouldn't ride on the team bus. Instead opting to roll in some fancy ride that Sergei bought him. One night, he shows up to a bar where the rest of the team is drinking. He's also wearing an outrageous animal fur coat. He sits down and demands everybody make room for him. Kevin Bieksa then punches him in the face and the rest of the team leaves. I'm sure parts of that story were enhanced, but the Bieksa punching him out part seems to be very true.
Can't believe I missed this thread, but thanks Bogey. I can now manually update my NHL '08 rosters until I'm ready to get off my lazy butt and buy '09.
