Good addition. He certainly wants a crack at the cup. Though, he's probably not going to get it there. It was the best choice left.

He would have been a good stabilizing influence on the Kings and we could have done better than that with our cap space. Oh well.

well, it has not been confirmed yet. Sens were in the market for a dman, but they needed an offensive minded one, but they don't go wrong with Smith (assuming this is true because it has not been caught up on any sites yet)
