Why a pick, too? He's only making $725k (with a cap hit of $713k) this upcoming season.
'cause i want one.
by the way... Taffe, huh? not only will Jamie Lundmark come to flashback but in just two short seasons, the Kings will have had all three players traded for Keith Tkachuk 7 years ago minus the Eager Pick!!!!

Hmm, I admit I don't know anything about Scuderi, but the Kings would clearly have the cap space to take on Sydor.
In all honesty, Sydor would probably be a great guy to have in the dressing room, with all of the young defensemen coming through the system, and considering he has had a long successful career after initially struggling in LA. The perspective he would have on being a young defenseman for the Kings would be priceless.

a #5/6... think Aaron Miller around the time he was traded to Los Angeles, only a little smaller and playing minutes better suited for him.
and while everyone (particularly LGKers) were busy jerking off over Brooks Orpik's 8 seconds on a bull, Rob was EASILY the most underrated Penguins player throughout the playoffs.

some pens fans say he was actually quite terrible and that some of the goals they gave up were because of his turnover's or bad coverage.
a plus player in every series other than the Detroit series (where the Pens were shutout twice), finished the post season a plus defender, and only 7 official giveaways in 20 post-season games... 3 of which were in the Detroit series.
Sweet! After trading Lubo, the Kings are missing a surefire turnover artist. Do it, Deano!
Here's a fun fact from the stats at nhl.com
Scuderi - 71 games played, 25 giveaways
Visnovsky - 82 games played, 91 giveaways
I would say Lubo turns the puck over like a fully loaded PEZ dispenser being operated by a 10 year old with a major sweet tooth, while Scuderi is more like that giant gum ball machine that no one every wants to put 50 cents in.

"Clarification on Jeff Taffe. He did sign a 2 year two-way contract last summer but had a clause in it that he exercised to become a UFA-- Pittsburgh is looking to bring him back and Taffe wants a 1way contract around 550k per season. As I wrote earlier, Florida, Nashville and LA have inquired about him"

funny, that's damn near 4:1. there can't be THAT much disparity in their ice time either.
who were the main penalty killers for the Penguins during the playoffs? Hal Gill and Rob Scuderi
where was Pittsburgh's PK ranked among the 16 playoff teams? #3, behind Boston and Nashville, who were BOTH eliminated in the first round.
(and which Penguins defender NOT named Letang saw the fewest minutes short handed... averaged even LESS time than Lubo? yeah, THAT one... the one everyone wanted)
6 of the top 10 offenses last season (actually 7, but i'm omitting Pittsburgh at #7) were Eastern Conference teams, and 7 of the top 10 defenses (top 9 actually, again omitting Pittsburgh at #10) were Western Conference teams.
the Kings had the 13th ranked offense and the 28th ranked defense last season... Pittsburgh was the ONLY Eastern Conference team to rank top-10 in BOTH categories.
again, Scuderi is a #5... and there were reasons why Stoll and Greene were brought on board for Visnovsky as well.
Hmm, I admit I don't know anything about Scuderi...

It's possible Scuderi must just suck, but he and Gill got lit up several times throughout the Finals.
Real bad.
But then you have to think, that was against the likes of Zetterberg and Filppula.

I watched all of the penguins games from the conference finals and the cup finals and I'll admitt I didn't even realize he was on the Pens, that could be a good thing or not.
