Get over myself? You're the one that always has to comment on anything I say. In case you didn't get the memo there are people who don't buy into your desire to pussify the NHL.
Instead of complaining about the game getting to tough why not just campaign to get the instigator rule repealed? Doing so would alleviate most of this type of behavior.
I've been watching hockey for a long time and I've never been one to be horrified to see a fight or a good hit. I'm from the days of the bench clearing brawl. When I was younger I saw guys come over the chicken wire after fans. I have no desire to pussify the NHL.
You, on the other hand, need to learn what is considered a good hit versus a goon hit. Stepping on someone's leg while they're down does not consititute a good hit.
Watching the Ducks for 15 years does not make you a hockey expert. Quit being such a homer and admit that your guy got what he deserved. Pronger knows the rules, he should be willing to live by them.

You contradict yourself. You have often argued that you would rather watch players showcase their skill and to get rid of some of the rough stuff. Now you are trying to come off as some advocate of the good ole days? Say what you will but I bet your copy of Miracle gets far more rotation that your copy of Slapshot. I'm not buying your new found love to on ice toughness.

I know what is a good hit and what is a goon hit. What you fail to acknowledge is that I have often called a spade a spade and just because I am sometimes at odds with the "experts" of LGK doesn't exactly mean that I'm wrong in those situations. ESPECIALLY with matters concerning Pronger since so many of you have so much hatred towards him. Since you missed it I have said what Pronger did warranted a 5 game suspension and I admit that it was a goonish tactic.
HOWEVER, this type of activity will continue to occur in the NHL until the instigator rule is repealed. Plain and simple. So we may as well get used to it. Get rid of the rule and all of this goes away. Did you even see waht Kesler did at the end of the first period that pissed Pronger off in the first place? I bet you didn't.
Pronger got what he deserved and quite frankly....I'M GLAD HE DID IT. **** Ryan Kesler. If that little **** didn't put a leg lock on Pronger like the pussy that he is none of this would have happened. To have him to crying to media just shows how gutless a puke he is. If he was so mad about what happened he could have handled it like a man and taken Pronger on. Instead he cried to the media.

Nor does watching it for 40 years. We are talking hockey, not ****ing rocket science. I'm often amazed at the elitest attitude long time hockey fans have when it comes to their "hockey IQ." If we were attorney's I'd defer to you and come to you for advice because...well, you have 25 more years of practice and courtroom experience under your belt. However, don't expect me to bow before your hockey knowledge. Figuring this sport out takes far less than 15 years.
Then why did Suter get only 4 games? You point out irony but you contradict your self with your punch line. Brilliant move Corky.
Suter wasn't a star player? Calder Trophy, 4 All Star games, 1 second team all star, 5 Olympic/World Cup/ Canada Cup rosters & over 800 points as a Defenceman doesn't qualify you as a star?
Name calling always helps your case by the way, shows everybody how classy you are too

Here we go with the pi$ contest again. Depending on what we're discussing, you're right - my opinion is different. Do I appreciate skill and passing? Yes, absolutely and I would rather see that than someone running everyone into the boards all the time. That makes for a very boring hockey game. I want to see skating, passing, stick handling. That's the best part of hockey to me. HOWEVER, I have never not appreciated a good hit or a fight. I love them. I know it's part of the game. I love a good hip check that sends a guy a$$ over teakettle.

These guys are professional hockey players. If they can't control themselves better than this, then there needs to be some action taken. There were alot of other ways to get back at Kessler. Pronger is bigger and stronger than most of the league. HE DOESN'T NEED TO ACT LIKE HE DOES. He wants to hurt people. There is no respect for anyone else.
As far as the media goes, if the reporter asks the question, they're gonna answer it. I'm sure Simon didn't chase down the reporter.

You mentioned that I always respond to your posts. That's incorrect. I read and pass on most of them because you do make more sense than alot of people on this board MOST OF THE TIME. That being said, I doubt you have ever asked anyone their opinion and instead take greater pleasure in belittling everyone elses.

Suter was on the down hill slope when he nailed Kariya. Much like Rob Blake. The season he nailed Kariya was the last good season he had. After that he went downhill fast. Kariya on the other hand had just inked a 5yr/50mil contract and was a marquee attraction. If you want to compare star quality I feel it's safe to say that the the chips were on Kariya's side in 1998 far more than they were with Suter.
If calling you Corky hurts your feelings so much....man up. Don't be such a baby. I'm sure you've been called worse.

With all due respect, I'll admit if I'm wrong. You on the other hand don't. You come off as a know it all who has the upper hand on everybody because your daddy played hockey and you remember the good old days when Butch Goring's bald spot peeking through that convertible helmet of his.
For the record when the first video was all we had I said he should not be suspended. When the second video came out I figured 5 games. I wasn't far off. You inferred that I was being a homer in this situation and in fact I wasn't.
Honestly, I don't really want to get in a war or words with you. It's really unimportant. We both have different views on the sport and that is no big deal. I'm by no means perfect but it has to be expected that when making my case in a situation like this I'm going to have no choice but to stand firm in my beliefs and not waver. The only way for me to make this easy on myself was to say that he deserved to miss 30 games. To be honest, anyone that thinks that was on par with the Simon incident and that Pronger deserves 30 games is the homer that you accused me of being. Plain and simple.
