Maybe these two guys are so committed to the team they were willing to take half the year off to make sure the team could bring in all the pieces they needed to repeat. Then, when the timing was right, come back and put the team over the top for a run at yet another cup.
If the Kings had dome it, we would be singing it's praises and you all know it.
i wouldn't.
i think that the ability to do something like that is against the spirit of game and sportsmanship altogether, and the facility of it all needs to be done away with. time constraints must be set across the board.
Niedermayer's return on the other hand is VASTLY different and i don't have any real problem with him coming back... Scott was under contract.

Crap like this busts my balls harder than anything else. And it's not because I hate the Quacks or anything...it's just wrong. I stood the same ground when Floppa took most of a year off only to return for the playoffs.
I still say if a player wants to play, he needs to decide within in the teams' first 10 games of the season. Just like a team has a 10-gam window to send or keep jr players, clowns like Floppa, Scott Neids, and Selanne should have to make a commitment to the team within that same 10-game window.
This sh** of waiting around to see how good the team is before committing is a bunch of bull. Are you part of the team or not? Are you committed or not?
Personally, if ANY Kings were to pull this garbage, I would hope DL would jetison the sack of sh**.

You are a bit different than most... and that is a good thing. I wouldn't be happy about it but that rolls into my next point.
They are playing by the rules that are currently in place... it was a bit of a dirty play though.
Scott's situation was different, but almost everyone could see this one coming from very early on. Scotty earned the break though... dude is a warrior and a talented one to boot.

I'm with Gescom. I certainly would not be excited.
I'm too stupid to look at big pictures. I need to break things down a bit. Like this: Say it the Kings suit up 20 guys for a game and the 20th guy is Gauthier while Kopitar is thinking about taking a night off. Then after 2 periods, the Kings are up 6-0 on Detroit and Kopi decides to go ahead and play. Gauthier gets to sit, Kopi gets to play and finish out the game. That ***** just ain't right!
If you can't alter a game roster mid-game, then a team shouldn't be allowed to make this type of roster move mid-season. It's not like Selanne was hurt or in rehab or in jail or retired...he just went missing for 1/2 a season. And I don't care if any other team would have signed him...I don't fault the quacks for taking advantage of the system...my problem is with the spirit of this loophole in the system. I think it needs addressing.

FYI...if you dress 20 guys and one of them isn't Kopitar he's considered a scratch and not available for the entire game. You may want to think outside the box and imagine a larger portion of a season if you want to make sense.
